The XL Overlander tent fits great, almost perfectly, over top of my M416 Jeep trailer with custom built top. Materials used are of good quality, I have never owned a RTT so I can't comment in it as compared to others. Fits my needs perfectly.

Very large footprint. My factory cross bars on a 4Runner weren't up for the task. Needed to purchase after market load bars. Great tent with many extra's.

Love the XL roof top. Easy setup other than the awning part. Keeps plenty of people dry with plenty of space. Wish the mattress was a little thicker. I purchased a pad and leave in it when folded up.

Very strong and stable. Setup instructions are a bit vague, but can be figured out. Highly recommend setting up at home first, to figure it all out. Being able to open the top and having a view of the night sky is amazing.

I have had this on top of our rig for a few years now; I didn't want to review it until it survived a few seasons here in Colorado. I have used it in the 100 degree desert heat of Moab and the 0 degree temps of 13,000 foot alpines in Colorado. It stays on top of the xterra year round and has survived 100's of trails and two winters with absolutely no flaws. I am buying my brother one for christmas...its that good.

Works great with the annex on top of my custom trailer

I camp a lot and usually like to have a base camp and then hit the trails so installing the tent on a trailer so you don't have to break camp each day is a big plus. I used the Smittybilt XL tent as part of my trailer build. The tent is awesome. The only issue I have is there is no instructions on how to install the poles that hold open the flaps or how to hold open the doorway flap.

Best value RTT on the market! The construction and design are amazing and the added LED light strip is a huge bonus.

Great tent for the family to use! 4 of us fit in there with room to spare. The included mattress was a little on the thin side for my Wife and I, so I added a 2” thick memory foam topper for added comfort. Setup and takedown are simple and can be done by myself. I’ve added some exterior lighting and a motion sensor LED light inside of the veranda for the late night bathroom trips. I just ordered the annex for it but it has not seen any use yet. I’ll leave reviews for it after we use it up in Michigan’s UP later this month. Overall it’s a great product that will be enjoyed for many years.

Spent a week on the coast with this tent and had an awesome time. Good product.

This rooftop tent exceeded expectations and doesn’t break the bank. When it is all closed up it holds heat in well and can be used in cold and windy weather with no issues. There are plenty of vents for the summer heat as well. The size will fit three adults comfortably. Money well spent.

Mostly I love smittybilt's products and have both a gen 1 and a gen 2 RTT. Love both of them, especially the gen 2 EXCEPT for 1 problem, the straps that secure the 2 halves together are too short on both of them. 2 more inches on those straps would make a world of difference. Sounds like a small thing but it is a PITA when you are packing up. Otherwise a perfect five stars.

This is a great tent. A few issues i have with it though is it doesnt always line up in the center when unfolding the tent so the junction will either sit on top or below the point they are suppose to connect and also there is a rubber piece that sits inside the bottom of the tent where the side attaches to the base. Well this has come out of the track that it sits in a few times and is very difficult to re seat. other than those minor issues this thing is awesome its great to be up off the ground and in a well made tent that can go anywhere you can take your vehicle.

Excellent quality. Plenty of space for myself and 2 children. Worth the money! Great family time.

Have had the rtt installed for a few months now with about a dozen nights camping. Setup is fairly quick, you?ll get better as you go. Quality of the tent is good for the price. We have had several terrestrial down pours and not one issue thus far as far as the rain is concerned. My only issues have been the quality of the stitching in the straps as one snapped on the first setup and the mattress is decent but had a tear in cover out of the box. Easy fixes but not something I wanted to find on the initial setup. Some small attention to detail in the manufacturing is needed as some of the holes still had sharp edges where the window rain fly poles go into the base of the tent. Overall a quality tent for the money and would buy again. Very spacious and the supplied led light is very nice.
