Used these shocks on the rear of a 1994 Dodge Dakota with a 6 1/2" lift. Used 63" Chevy half ton leaf springs with custom shackles and spring and shackle mounts. For our application, these shocks are actually longer than we need and there may not be enough up travel left in them. We may need to modify the top shock mount to get a bit more travel out of them. However, these shocks are the quality you would expect from Bilstein. We haven't run them yet, still finishing our build.
I bought this 5125 as an auxiliary shock on my 1991 Ford Bronco quad shock setup with a 6" lift. The primary shock is a 5160 with remote reservoir. At first I thought the valving would be too stiff but it really provided stability while letting the suspension to travel and work as it should. I can push the Bronco hard through a corner and the Bilstein help keep it stable. Prior to adding the 5125 it would roll into a corner and dip the nose when coming to a stop. I love the way it rides now, especially without custom valving. Just bolt it on and go.
great ride on the back of a tacoma. the 170 valving is a much better choice for lighter trucks.
I put it on a wk jeep with 4” lift. It works amazingly. However, it’s not a direct fit. You will need a steel bushings and washers to fit in.
Adapters required for the front of my 1977 F250 but the length is perfect.
They made a big difference immediately after I installed them. After 20-30 miles or so they got a little smoother. I recommend them.
I have a 2005 F250 with a Fabtech dual shock set up. I had Walker Evans Remote resevoirs. They were worn and tired. Didn't feel like breaking the bank with a similar set. Replaced them with these and holy cow are they amazing. It rides 100% better. No lifted truck is going to ride like a Caddy but it's darn close with these. Do yourself a favor and get a set of these. Shout out to Carl at x5122 for helping me out!!
Received my rear shocks in a couple days. Free shipping and not tax. They were just what I ordered and they mounted on my Silverado very easily. They look so good I wish they weren't underneath my truck.
go down back roads, pretty smooth. no mountain roads yet, but I think they're going to work really well.
This is a great looking, great performing shock. Had to mount boot side down on my 86 k10 because of shock being to big around to mount the other way. It will pinch in the stock mounting brackets. Not a big deal to me. Only issue is that 4wheel parts apparently can't keep up with their inventory and will gladly sell you this product, including taking the money for it, without actually having the part in stock. Took about 2 weeks to get the part. They say their website can't possibly keep up with the inventory in all of their warehouses. It's 2015, I find it hard to believe this technology is not possible. Anyway, a bit of a pain but Bilstein makes a great shock. So yay for them.
Bilstein are top of the line shocks. Reliable - high performance with distinctive design. What else to ask for?
great shock for custom applications, very good quality and craftsmanship.
Good product as always, fit perfect for my TJ Unlimited and gives me great flex and feel on the street. Perfect for vehicles with on road duty and weekend warrior
