Reviews: Bestop Trektop NX Soft Tops

Love this top! Simple to install, simple to use. Very versatile. It will also work with a Bestop Tonneau cover over the rear. Would give it a 5 star, but the rear window is a little tough to deal with, but not sure how it could be improved.

Definitely install in the sun! Hard to do while cold for first couple of times. No leaks at all!

Took the hardtop off two weeks ago. Installedlthis top in under an hour. Love the sunrider, what a great idea. Real easy to open and close. Haven't unzipped windows yet. Very pleased so far.

Read a review that said something about cutting holes for screws but mine were pre cut. Only problem is that one of the back corners sticks up higher then the other side

The fastback style looks great on my 2 door TJ. The Sunrider features is awesome. The top fits tight. Removal and install is easy once you figure it out. Great summer top.

95% pleased with this Top. My only complaint was one of the Door surrounds was not pre-threaded. I had to purchase a Tap/die set to finish the Job. I'm sure it was a fluke. other then that it is a Great Top.

I have a hardtop but during the summer missed my old softtop. This was less expensive then a replacement top when you add in the support bars and surrounds, etc. Installation was ok, but the directions are pretty hard to understand. The pictographs don't show where or what orientation the vehicle is, so you're left guessing if it's left or right, front or rear facing. But a little time and it goes on pretty well. Attaching the windows is very hard on mine. They have to be put on in a particular order so you can get the zippers started, and on mine, by the time you get to the passenger side window there is so little slack left the window ends up being pulled and almost impossible to get attached. Once on it seems ok but just very hard to get on. With my old softtop I had it down to getting the windows on in about 5 minutes, takes probably 10 now. Getting the windows off is considerably easier! Had read in a forum that one person was able to use a side panel bag and basically attach it up above the sport rails to keep them safe and out of the way. Haven't tried that yet but intend to. Only problem with them off is there is a flap that at highway speeds is LOUD! The rear window attaches to the top via a plastic channel, then (on the top) a flap extends over with a couple of velcro patches that cover the channel and the zippers. With the window out, that flap just (pardon the pun) flaps in the breeze. Not noticeable at low speeds, but on the highway it gets pretty bad. I was able to kind of stick the edge of the flap into the plastic channel and that seemed to take care of it, but a little more velcro to the bottom of the flap could have solved the whole problem. Considering it was much less than a full softtop, and I like the bikini style with the windows off, I do recommend the top. Just be warned it's a little tough to get installed the first time and the windows are a bit of a pain to put on. Otherwise I'm glad I purchased it!

Great replacement to the hard top for the summertime in that is easy to install & uninstall. The only Con to it is it is a little more work than I expected to make it a complete convertible. Other than that, this withstood heavy rain.

The Bestop Trektop NX in Black Diamond is a great top. It comes with everything needed to install it and has a unique design. I really like the functionality of this top. You have a sunrider feature, as well as a safari bikini for those hot sunny days when shade is needed. The tinted windows give it a nice look and keep interior temps down as well.It is the perfect choice for hardtop models for a summer top.

The most important thing about this top that I probably should have realized, but didn't; is that once this is installed, there is no practical swapping back and forth between it and the factory hardtop. The parts supporting the top are numerous and they must be de-installed before reinstating the hardtop. The main difference that you will notice is much greater wind noise with the soft top. To me, this is acceptable for the open air versatility, but to each his own. If you are an "audiophile" the interference with the stereo is palpable. Additionally, there is certainly less protection of all types from the soft top versus the fiberglass hardtop. Should you choose to go ahead and prchase the NX Trektop (after all it looks great and protects from elements while still being able to "open-up") you MUST, MUST, MUST watch the factory video on the install. The "pictograph" type international directions are virtually worthless. And, oh yeah, the two hour install estimate is too short for this project the first time around. Double it. Most of your time will be spent trying to reconcile the pictures and the video. If you ever install a second one, you could do it in about an hour!

I had some problems with tightness of the fabric on the installation, and still waiting for it to stretch. Very simple to install and use this top though. Definately would buy this again, or upgrade to the supertop nx.

I purchased this top to replace my factory soft top. This top is noticeably quieter on the road than my original soft top. It was pretty easy to install?I did it by myself. The fit is snug like they say in the install video, but it gets on there with some patients and a little muscle. The hotter and sunnier the day, the easier it'll be to get on. For daily driving, it's SO easy to open the sunrider. It opens far enough so that from the driver seat, you can't even tell the top is still on! I love having that feature. The windows aren't as easy to roll up and take with you like my old soft top windows, but I am sure there's a way to make it happen. Bottom line, this top looks great, keeps the elements out, and offers really convenient means of getting the open-air driving experience. My only con to this top, is that it's not easy to remove completely?although it can be done.

I made the mistake of not investigating whether this top would go all the way down. It does not. However, in doing research it seems that the ones that do go down like a convertible are not as well made.

It was easier to install than originally thought. However there are no words in the instruction so you have move forward and come back to better identify pictures. Finally my biggest issue is the sides do not easily wrap around the door surround for a good fit. Much of the time it is flapping.

I bought this top to give my 2012 Wrangler a different look from the typical soft top. It was really pretty easy to install. I'm really happy with it. It takes a few days for it to stretch into shape. So give it time to settle in. The back window was a tight fit at first, but now it's no problem.

one piece broke in two places without much pressure

Nice top but after having it on my Jeep for a year, the glue that attaches the top to the header bar began to leak out the sides and the top has detached about 1/10th of the width of the top.

This top is excellent. I didn't give it 4 stars because it hasn't rained yet so I don't know if it is watertight. However, it did pass the garden hose test. Looks good and easy to install.

The new top looks great. It was fairly simple to install. It fits tight and is very quiet. So far I am very satisfied.

Like many others have said, it's a bear to install. You really have to half-zip zippers and do it in exactly the right order to get 'er to fit. Doesn't fit quite flush at the top rear corners - I guess because the soundbar stretches it that extra 1-2". Just an esthetics thing; doesn't look exactly right. Glad I got it, though, and look forward to cruising around safari-top style when it gets warm!
