Reviews: Bestop Trektop NX Soft Tops

I was one of the pre-orders. Yes, it took Bestop FOREVER to release these tops, but definitely worth the wait! It is a great top. When you do the install take your time. New tops fit really tight and getting it basically on and taking a drive to help relax and stretch the fabric is a good idea. My top fits perfectly and looks great. Since I put it on it has not stopped raining and I have had no leaks! Cons: the tailgate bar is miserable. If your jeep came with a soft top use your factory one. The bestop tailgate bar fits very secure but the way it clips is a pain. I am hoping it gets easier as time goes by and the fabric relaxes a bit, but for now my wife and I make a great team of getting it hooked. Side note - the window zippers and top tabs form a great seal, so even if you dont get the tailgate bar hooked, still no leaks.

This is accompanying a factory supplied hard top. It is nice because it comes with all the parts needed (no extra purchases of rails or clips). I watched the on-line videos for installation and installed the top by myself in about 2 hours.

Ignore most of the reviews online about this top as most reference the original version introduced more than 2 years ago. Bestop has made some significant improvements to this top since introduction. The rear spreader bar has integrated hooks to keep it in place when the top is used as a safari top. It will not "slide out" of the top when going down the highway or turning a corner too fast. The sunrider feature actually uses a hinged bow assembly and does not need to be "rolled back" and secured via straps. Simply undo the header bar, release the sides from the top of the door surrounds and flip it open. nearly one-half of the entire top opens up and simply sits on the back half of the top (on my 2-door TJ). Runs much quieter IMO than my old Supertop. Getting from full top to Safari mode is as simple as unzipping and removing the three windows. No more removing my supertop and then strapping on a safari top! What a time saver. The top is indeed tight the first time it is installed, but what do you want, a loose top? First time I zipped the windows back in, they went in just fine. The larger windows associated with the bowless design are an incredible enhancement to stock or other replacement bowed soft tops. Cabin feels airy even with the top installed and full doors on. Great product!

we love the spice color and tinted windows...it really changed the look of our Wrangler and sets us apart from all the black tops rolling around out there...the addition of door surrounds and elimination of framing for the top is a huge plus for a clean top-off look...the sunroof is awesome...it does require a little muscle to fit the first time, but its worth the effort...done in under an hour

I have always loved the way these tops look. Give the wrangler a little sportier look. Like vehicles that stand out!! This top replaced a regular soft top. would recommend this top!!

I bought this to replace my hard top in the summer. I used a best top utube instructions and could not be happier. The shipping could of been better. The top had to be put on backorder. It would of been nice to know that before I made my purchase.

Header was broke during shipping. I called and they took care of the part with no problems. Top looks great now that it's on. Thanks 4WD Mag. Your customer service is great.

This is a great summer soft top option. It allows for a quick conversion to a variety of top configurations and looks great. As long as you follow the video installation instructions, installation is easy. No leaks so far!

I got this top to replace my damaged factory base line soft top. So far this top has exceeded my expectations. Not only does it look awesome but it has features for a better fit that the factory did not. It was easy to install but definitely try to do it on the warm sun if possible.

Simple to install , took about 30 min or so ,had a few people ask what kind of top it was an commented on how good it looked ..top was quite at road speed, didnt flap or make any noise at all ...

The Bestop Trektop NX in Black Diamond is a great top. It comes with everything needed to install it and has a unique design. I really like the functionality of this top. You have a sunrider feature, as well as a safari bikini for those hot sunny days when shade is needed. The tinted windows give it a nice look and keep interior temps down as well.It is the perfect choice for hardtop models for a summer top.

I have been wanting a softtop for my Jeep for a long time. The Bestop Trektop NX is the perfect softtop. It reduces the weight of the vehicle, does not use a frame, is modular (full top, rear window out, safari top, foldback over driver), and looks great. Perfect for weekend adventures. It was easy to install, but did require a heated garage to install in the cold Iowa March temp.

I liked how easy it was to install. I had a little difficulty with the driver side door surround but after chasing the threads a couple times it snapped in. So overall great product in all aspects.

Very satisfied. Fits and looks great! So much better than the Black Diamond one I had on my JK. However, it’s much easier to go from bikini to no top on the one for the JK. They should add the quick releases.

My son and I had little trouble with the installation of this soft top on my 2002 TJ. Be sure to follow the instructions; don't jump ahead like we did!!!

Watch the how to video on you tube made buy best top. They made it easy enough I installed it myself and I and a 46 yr old woman. I LOVE THE TOP! NOT ANY MORE ROAD NOISE THAN WITH MY HARD TOP.

Great Look, When installing use the directions and Bestop Youtube video. Helpful Hint: I installed in early spring 62 degrees, heated garage to 85 and all parts stretched fine, no force. All part were included and packaged very well. I would recommend this top for spring through fall northern climate use.
