Bestops new Sailcloth Replace-a-top is 50% quieter than a factory denim top. The secret lies in the unique multi-ply Sailcloth fabric. Each ply plays a different role, but together they reflect road sounds, absorb wind noise, and prevent buffeting to create a silencing effect that absolutely must be heard to be believed. In addition, the beefier Sailcloth fabric resists temperature-induced shrinkage, making cold-weather installations much easier. It also shows fewer waves and wrinkles than conventional tops and cleans more easily to help make your rig look really sharp! If your Jeep deserves the absolute best top on the market, or if you are tired of getting 'beat up' behind the wheel, you must experience the Sailcloth revolution!
I got my top around 2:00 and had it completely installed by 4:00pm. This was my first time replacing a top on my 02 TJ. I read the instructions and watched the installation video on Best Tops website while I let the top warmup in the sun. I had it on and driving within an hour. It fits nice and snug. It is very quiet. I can hear my soundbar very well now. I really like the tinted windows. They definitely dress up the look of my TJ. They recommend using a shoehorn for the doors, but I was able to get them on relatively quickly. They are a tight fit, but not impossible to do. My TJ header has 14 screw holes and the top only had 8 cutouts. I installed all 14 screws by lining up the header holes and pulling the top tight as I screwed it down. I don't think I needed all 14, I just wanted all 14 in it. I have read other reviews that had complaints about wrinkling. I got mine very tight and have no wrinkles after letting it set in the sun for 1 day. All in all I would say it is well worth the money and I will definitely get another one when this one needs to be replaced.
Bought this top after doing a lot of research. It seems to be one of the best tops available, and was leagues above the Pavement Ends top that came on my jeep when I bought it. Fabric is good, fit is perfect, and the door seal is great on the soft uppers. The only problem is this thing STINKS, literally. It smells like inflatable rafts you use in the pool, I suspect it's the plastic windows. I have been riding with the windows open for a week or two and it is still smells strongly of plastic/chemicals. I'm hoping the smell will subside in a while.
I love it, just what I wanted. It is much quieter than the original top! Quality problem with the rear window. The seal between the window and fabric seperated. Awaiting Best Top to address the issue.
Q: Can I get the doorskins tinted? Answer this question
A: Hello Matt, No, none of the aftermarket vendors offer tinted doors. Thank you for the question.
