Reviews: Tuffy Hood Lock

I was looking for an exterior hood latch for my '07 JK Wrangler, but decided to give the Tuffy Lock a try instead of the ones that replace the hood dogs. It went in exactly as described and definitely gives the desired security without being showy in the front grille.

Installed in about 10 min... Was easy and makes you feel safe with upgrades under the hood

Having the hood lock makes me feel comfortable when leaving the vehicle for long periods of time that the battery and other engine parts will still be there upon my return.

Simple to install, decent price, works as it should. Tuffy make great products, and glad they finally added a hood lock to their product line. Took 30 minutes to install, I loosened the front grille, didnt need to remove it as the install instructions suggest. Im one of a number that bought other manufacturers JK Hood Locks, that DO NOT work ! Avoid them all, and get Tuffy's hood lock.

This is a great lock and the price was great. It was pretty easy to install and I'm not mechanically inclined. I did not receive instructions but I called Tuffy and they e-mailed them quick and it took about 20 minutes to install. I sleep better knowing my hood is locked. It also deters crooks just looking at the front of the Jeep and seeing it. Very satisfied.

This will prevent anybody from opening your hood, but install WILL be tricky if you have big hands. Same with getting the key into the tumbler and then trying to turn it. The instructions mention an optional dust cover for the keyhole, but I wasn't given an option for one. I will be looking into it, since the entire assembly is exposed to all of the dirt, mud, and slush on these Michigan roads!

Solid Built product. Like that it can be keyed to match other Tuffy products. It needs a dust cover for the key hole though. Less than 1/2 the price of the mopar product!

I purchased a new expensive battery and found the Tuffy Hood Lock to secure the hood from a single point. Other Jeep hood locks were part of or replacements to the rubber side latches. My only criticism is that a keyhole cover is not included with but instead offered separately.

Good lock installed and works as described. Seems to provide some stabity with down draft. Will at least cause a thug an extra step towards getting battery and othe under hood items. The only con I gave is it should come with a dust cover. Once installed, it must be removed to install the prescribed dust cover.
