Better than expected

I wasn't very fond of the pocket style fender flares however I found a smitty dealer in my area selling these for around [$]. That's a steal after being quoted $400-$500 for bushwackers pocket style fenders. I bought it and it was so easy to install. Alot easier then removing the stock flares which were a royal pain. I tested it on the trail; my 33x12.50x15 rear tire rubbed up on it while climbing a rock the flare took the abuse from the MT's with no issues. Ive had them on for almost 1 year with no problems just people asking me where I got them and I saved at least $200 by going with smittybilt and not bushwacker.

Trail Tested

We use these fenders flares on the Pro Comp TJ with great success. They have been beaten and abused all over the country for the last 4 years with no issues. mmathews[@]

Fender flare install tips -

Installed rear fender only so far - used fender washers on o/s to reinforce the plastic cap nut that is to keep the fender from tearing off body. The washers bend nicely with groove shape and painted black blends in fine. The bad - some of the OEM bolts are pressure fit and you have to pop them out. Next, the front bolt is accessible by a 2 " drain hole for the nut. I used dbl side tape to hold the nut to finger tip, but tough to match up as fender holes not aligned to flare. You should start front to back. Next, 2nd hole back used a stainless steel screw as existing hole was too small. Definitely resist tightening bolts until all aligned. otherwise, was easy install under an hour R&R time.

Great buy for your money

Look great on my TJ and look awesome when painted to match top. front fenders go on very easy but rear ones are harder to install. When you install the rear flares they sit lower than stock ones so you can see the outline of the old stock fender flares.

Body washers a must install

These are OK if you install with a good set of body washers and lock nuts don't over tighten the bolts and they will last, let them move around a bit when your done with install.

Bring your own hardware

Product looks great, and installs to body well. The screws and plastic washers provided are too small to hold the flares to the body.I had to replace with my own washers. (so a double installation).
