Easy to install

I have never installed a skid plate before. The instructions were easy to follow. The hardware is an exact fit. Did the bolt turn around on the suspension link. Installing the skid plate with all bolts hand tight, was actually easy. The plate was a little heavy (~48lb.) but I was able to put it in place by hand. I tightened all the hardware with 1/2" drive ratchet, extensions, and a couple of wrenches. I had to do a review because it fit better than any other aftermarket part I've ever installed. Clears the power train, exhaust, and oil pan very nicely. The engine oil drain plug ends up exactly in the center of the opening. Did the complete instal without help in an easy hour. This skid plate is truly a bolt in place without modification.

Good skid plate

What can I say? It's a skid plate. Right thickness. Easier to install with two people or a jack to hold the plate in place. Recommend install without front bumper on if you can.

All around cool

Easy to install. Very strong and much better as a skid plate than the piece of plastic junk it comes with

Great Product

Great quality product! One complaint though, packaging sucked, lol! The shipping boxes were beat-the-hell up!! No worries though, they are skid plates and if they can make through UPS shipping them, they will be great on the trail!!

Well made skid plate

I have this skid on my YJ and traversed the Rubicon in 2014 with no problems. Heavy build and design is the same for the TJ skid here. Straight forward directions. Great unit to take abuse over rocky terrain with great protection!

Very easy install.

This thing went in easier than any mod I have done to date. I am the VP of pv4wd.com and I've done many upgrades on my TJ. Everything from adding fog lights to the front bumper to welding the rear spider gears and fabricating my rear bumper.I was seeking a quick, painless way of getting some armor under my engine and transmission, after taking a hit next to the oil drain plug. Thankfully it doesn't leak, so I took the warning and bought this upgrade.I used two box-end wrenches for the mounts and a crescent wrench with electric impact for the lower control arm bolt.I had just had my wisdom teeth out a couple days prior (kinda medicated and couldn't lift or bend at strange angles like a lot of jeep work requires) and I installed this armor by myself without any issue. If you're new to upgrades and modding your rig, but want to get some decent armor under your engine and transmission, this skid is for you.Make sure you use anti-seize on your bolts or taking it off in the future for drivetrain work will be a big pain in the butt!

Serious steel for your control arm mount

This is a well-executed, very heavy-duty skid plate. I had already dinged my control arm mounts; the design is one of the few dumb things that Jeep did on the TJ series. This does reduce ground clearance by close to an inch under the control arm, but should glide over rocks fairly easy. But...I can see a risk that they could hang up like a hook when going in reverse. But I thought I'd give them a shot, especially as they not only protect the mount, but act as a reinforcing anchor point for the control arm mounting bolt. Installation guide was very thorough. Also, I had upgraded the control arm mounts to provide a cam for camber adjustment, and had no problems installing.

Easy install for "peace of mind"

Although the photos on the provided installation instructions are not very clear, the installation was easy. The plate feels heavy duty enough to provide adequate protection to previously exposed oil pan/transmission. I now have a lot more peace of mind when on the trails.
