Good Product, Bad Instructions

The product does exactly what it is intended to do, but the instructions need to be redone. The instructions indicate you should try to snap off the heads of the old pins. This worked OK, with slight marring on one, but I ended up breaking an inside support ridge on the 2nd latch. I found out after the fact that there are You Tube videos dedicated to the correct method which involves using snips to cut the old rubber out and then cutting the plastic covering over the pin. That worked like a champ on the replacement latch I had to buy from the dealer.

What they should have been to start with

After experiencing some severe hood flutter I installed a set and now confidence has been restored.

They work as advertised

When driving into a head wind, the factory latches allowed so much hood movement it made one pull over to check out the latches. The Daystar Hood Latch replacement offerd 110% improvemnt. No hood movement at all. Nice.

Very effective

I really like the total elimination of the hood flutter of my Daystar hood latches. But they are a bit to tight in my mind. The hood flutter could have still been eliminated without over tightening. An 1/8 in longer strap would have been nice I think.

Wrangled my Wrangler

Good product. Fairly easy to install, save the fact that once on it is much harder to latch the hood. It seems to do it's intended job very well though. I no longer have "hood flutter", and have even noticed a slight improvement in fuel economy, due to increased aerodynamics.

Poor Quality Hardware

Bought this set-up for wife's JK Rubicon. The shoulder screws that are included strip easily. I fouled one of them up so couldn't complete the install for both sides. Add to that the difficulty of latching these when out of the box and I knew my wife wouldn't like them. Tossed the parts and ordered a different latch type.

no chioce to hide branding

better than oe. reduces the hood shake at high speeds. Look horrible due to brand name on each side of each piece.. makes it look cheap. no way, what-so-ever to hide the branding. disappointing
