Awesome Tire

I used this tire in a 33/12.50-15 on my 2000 TJ for six years (40,000mi), and I'm on my fifth year (38,000mi) of my original 2010 Rubicon Unlimited tires. They're still legal but finally getting really worn. I'm convinced this is the best tire ever made, especially on Jeeps. This thing digs in mud, dirt, rock, water, snow, sand and anything else you throw at it. I run it at 14psi in bad mud/dirt/rock and have been on multiple Jeep Jamborees with zero trouble. I live in deep snow and drive off-road whenever I can with no worries. They get louder with age but it's not bad at all. I've also driven highways all over the country and still get good gas mileage. I'm constantly impressed, and I'm actually scared to consider any other tire.

Great Tire On and Off-road

Stock on my 2016 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. I rotate all 5 tires around every oil change and I'm now at 55,000 miles. I'll be getting a new set within the next 5k miles. These tires aren't loud like some say. I'm astonished at how quite they are. I mostly ride with my Bestop Trektop NX soft top installed and I still don't notice the tire sound; just the wind. These tires are great off and on the road. When I bought my jeep I was in Arizona, so I drove on many desert trails, low mountain trails, and most all of the Jeep trails in Sedona; all on these tires. These tires pulled me up rocks, through mud, and over snow covered mountain trails with ease. I'm now back in Florida, so rain is an almost daily occurrence and these tires channel water very well on the highways. My jeep is also my daily driver, so I'm on these tires daily. I pull a boat with my jeep on these tires (3700 pounds; boat and trailer). Stopping isn't an issue. One last thing to add: this tire is extremely tough and puncture resistance compared to other tires I've had. I can't remember a set if tires I've had in the past that didn't require me to plug at some point. I've not had to plug any of my mud-terrains in the 55k miles I've owned them. I'm very happy with my set of BF Goodrich Mud-Terrains and I'll be getting another set very soon.

MTR

My wife bought her JK is 2009. When at the dealer we had them replace all 5 tires with the BFG. After 75,000 miles we had a valve stem fall apart and destroyed a tire. 5 new tires were installed and we are now at 173,000 miles we are ordering a new set of 5. I rotate all 5 on every oil change and they have held up better than any tire i have had. Anyone who takes care of the tires will love this tire. Yes I can't go hood deep in mud right now but they are still very roadworthy. We hope our next set outlasts the JK !

Great OEM mud tire

I have 50k on my original set. They will start to cup if you do not rotate them religiously and keep the pressures up. I actually run 2 psi more per tire than the recommendation on the Jeep door panel. I rotate them every 3000-6000 miles. Normally every time I do an oil change. I have rotated all 5 tires in and expect to get 60-65k out of the set without getting them too bald. I’ve had these in Northern AK in -45* weather and 110+* in AZ and they’ve worked fine. So happy with the set I bought a used set for when these wear out to get me through 100k. Hopefully by then there will be deals on KM3’s for my third set.

Excellent experience

Purchased a used 2015 Willy's with 1700 miles on it (virtually new) and now have about 63000 miles on the vehicle and the original tires. So satisfied with their performance that I'm looking to replace with the same.

Original tires on my Jeep with 120,000 miles

I was surprised reading another review by a Jeep owner and them having issues with these tires. Still on my original set of these tires and I'm up to 120,000 miles on them with no issues. Since the tread is getting low, I'll be replacing them during the summer to get ready for winter and will replace with the same tire. Kept them rotated, balanced and inflated with nitrogen and they seem to be fine through many road miles and many PA potholes!

Fantastic Tires!!

These tires came on my 2011 Jeep Rubicon Extended when i bought it. I rotate them when i change the oil witch is at 3,000 miles and check the air pressure in between. I have 69,000 on them with about 5/32 left on them. Just order new ones because i always get new tires when i have 5/32 left. Also the jeep gets towed behind my motor home and that does not seem to make a difference on these tires. They are very quite, have been getting 17.4 miles per gallon highway city combined and 21.2 on the highway. If the next set of tires do as well I will buy another set as i will keep my jeep forever.

Great tires!!

I bought my new Rubicon in November 2014 and the KM's came stock on the Jeep. It was a new tread design for me as my other Jeeps had either all terrains or KM2's. I currently have 92,555 miles on these tires and still have tread left, not much, hoping Santa will hook me up! I have rotated the tires with every oil change, using full synthetic. Regrettably I would say 90% highway use, I wish more of it would have been off road but I gotta work. For the bad reviews on this page all I can say is it must be driving style. This is an aggressive tread pattern and I love the feel of it, probably not for everyone.

Aggressive look and excellent road characteristics

These tires came stock on my 2017 Jeep Wrangler JKU Willys edition. They are 255/75/R17. When I took delivery of the Jeep I was expecting to hear some tire noise at least at highway speeds, however I was pleasantly surprised at high quiet they are. In fact, I cant hear them even when I'm listening for them while rolling along at 65mph. Handling is excellent on dry pavement and slightly slippery on wet. I haven't yet tried them off road or in snow. They offer a comfortable ride as your daily driver and the aggressive tread give them a good look. Very satisfied

Best Tire I Ever Bought

I bought a used 2011 Jeep JKU awhile ago. My ONLY complaint about it were the tires. I did tons of research prior to making a decision and decided that this was the tire for me. My off-road performance was outstanding. Nothing crazy, just mud ( the jeep still has stock height). The jeep I bought comes stock with the Wrangler SRA. I was most surprised about the noise. They were quieter than the SRA. The tire offers exceptional grip on the roadway. Exceptional grip on the trail. There was a SLIGHT drop off in fuel economy, this can be expected when going to a heavier tire, but I have found it to be minimal. I can honestly say that I will never buy any other tire except these for the rest of my life.

Great Tires

These came stock on my 2015 Rubicon. I am still running on the stock tires and now have 61k on them. I have put these tires through the paces in snow, gravel, rock, mud and sand and they perform really well. Mostly I drive on pavement so I will get considerably more miles out of mine than someone who mainly drives more off road or on gravel. Here are some tips for long treadwear on high void or mud tires with large tread blocks. 1) Air Pressure. Make sure to keep all your tires properly inflated as this will cause your tires to prematurely wear out and cause chopping or high and low spots on the tires. 2) Rotation. I know most manufactures recommend rotating every 5-6k but with off road tires you should do this every 3-4k. Doing this more frequently will help the tires run smooth and help prevent cupping and heel toe wear on the tread blocks . 3) Alignment. Make sure to have your vehicle alignment checked per your vehicles maintenance recommendations. If you don't keep up on these, your tires will start getting irregular wear patterns. Once this starts, short of shaving your tires, it is very difficult to make this stop and not get worse. You will notice increased road noise and vibration. All tires have a manufacture's warranty on them. Here is a short rundown of what most cover. Workmanship and materials. This will cover defects in the tire and casing only that would be due to a defect in the manufacturing process and will not cover any road hazards or most wear conditions. Here is whats usually not covered -Road Hazzard Here are a few examples of road hazard conditions. -puncture. nail, cut, curbing, impact causing an internal break in the liner that would cause a bubble on the outside(tire dealer would need to perform an internal inspection of this. - Improper wear due to lack of maintenance. Low air pressure, lack of rotation, alignment. -Rock or gravel chipping. -Theft, fire, vandalism. Since these these are off road tires, there is most likely no tread life warranty. You will also notice that most if not all manufactures have changed the language from tread life warranty to tread life expectancy. This means that if you follow all to the recommended care guidelines and under normal conditions, you SHOULD be able to get "x" amount of miles from your tires but this is not guaranteed. This is only a brief rundown. Please consult the tire warranty for whatever brand of tire that you have. Also note that the new or used car sales person usually does not have an extended knowledge of tires other than they look cool and will not give you a complete rundown on them. Please consult a tire dealer that carries the brand you have installed on your vehicle for more info. If you have a Jeep with BfGoodrich tires, Find a Michelin or BFG dealer to help you answer any questions you might have. When choosing a vehicle, make sure you take into consideration of what the replacement cost will be on the tires. Most people don't think of this until it's time to replace the tires and get sticker shock. Tires are a "wear" item. They will require maintenance and wont last forever. Anyway, I hope this helps when making a decision on buying tires.

Great Tire

The BFG Mud Terrain TA KM came stock on both of my Rubicons (2010/2013). Had the set replaced on the first one after two years and their life ended in a head on collision. My 2013 Rubicon still has the original set after 67,000 miles and has about 1/4 inch of tread left. Moderate off-road/mud use when going camping or fishing, and two years of northern VA snow, majority of use is I-95 in Virginia. As winter seems to be over for 2016, I believe they will make it through this summer and I plan on replacing them this fall, as I don't plan on hitting any serious trails or mud with the current 1/4 inch of tread, otherwise I would replace them now, they just won't make it through another winter adequately with the tread they have left on them. As for all of the negative reviews about wear and cupping-I'm not sure of those individual's driving habits or mechanical skills, cornering speeds, braking habits or other driving habits that affect tires, but I rotate just 4 tires every oil change (with synthetic oil about 7000 miles), monitor tire pressure and alignment, and I do experience some cupping with the front tires but it evens out mostly after I rotate. Also, if you drive a Jeep or other engineered off-road vehicle with these Mud-Terrains (key word mud-terrains) you should keep in mind that it is an off road tire! Your driving habits, or should I say BAD driving habits will affect tire life and wear. It is not an Aquatread tire therefore based upon your braking habits when pavement is wet or during rainfall, you may or may not slide or hydroplane. I have had ZERO negative issues with either of the three sets that I have used, I hope these are NEVER discontinued because after 67,000 miles and still 1/4 inch of tread left, I don't think they can be beat. And yes, after 22 years of being in the transportation field, I know how to drive in all weather conditions. If pavement is wet, you can't break and stop the same way you do when the pavement is dry. Bottom line, I own a Jeep Rubicon and drive it like a Jeep Rubicon, not a minivan, so if you are a sensible driver, you CANNOT go wrong with this tire.

Hard to beat!!!

I have driven all over the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, specifically the San Juan range in the Silverton, Telluride, Ouray, Lake City area on multiple occasions, the trails of Moab Utah, crossed the Sand Dunes, been all through the Black Hills and Badlands of South Dakota, done countless Forest Service, dirt, and gravel backroads of the Midwest, and driven tens of thousands of miles of pavement in between, all on the SAME set of these tires without a single issue! For those not familiar, this includes about everything you could possibly put a tire through including various types of rock, sand, dirt, mud, sticks, brush, tree limbs, logs, water crossings, snow, ice, rain, high altitude, low altitude, extreme heat, cold, and of course A LOT of pavement conditions...and I've never been stuck, stranded, slid out, hydroplaned, or any of the other crazy things claimed by other reviewers...not even a flat! Mine have not cupped or worn uneven because I keep them properly inflated on the pavement, properly aired down off road, do a proper 5 tire rotation every 5k miles, and keep them properly road force balanced. They have served me so well that i kept them when I traded my 08 Jeep Wrangler in on a 14 model and am currently TRYING to wear them out because they are getting too aged. It will be a sad day when I have to finally remove them because they have taken me soooo many places and provided priceless fun! Not to worry though because I have another set already waiting to take over where these leave off! I have had multiple other mud and all terrain tires over the years and these have to be one of the best combination of quiet road worthy and aggressive off road tires you can get. As far as I'm concerned, this is the tire that should say "all terrain" on the side of it from BFG. To be fair, the only thing that could make it better would be if the tread was siped for improved hard pack snow and ice conditions, other than that, don't change a thing! I truely believe that if you made these tires in larger sizes to satisfy all the "mall-crawler" types out there, you would see less negative reviews which I honestly think come from people just looking to "justify" getting rid of these for huge, unnecessarily large "cooler looking" tires. I highly recommend these to anyone that needs a aggressive off road tire that still has street manners unless you are into extreme buggy type off roading and that is only because they are not made in larger sizes. Period!

Great tire

I've read many of the reviews here and most complaining of tire wear and noise. First jeeps are noisy vehicles. Mine is a 2013 wrangler unlimited soft top. I have had my mud terrains on mine for 40,000 miles now and they still have about 50% tread left. For a mud tire that's pretty great wear.i rotate every 6000 miles and are wearing very even. I expect to get at least 70,000 before I replace mine. I took my jeep off reading this summer at the badlands off road park and couldn't be happier at how they handled the mud! I personally thought I'd be winching my jeep all day but these pulled through like a champ. Can't imagine anyone complaining of these tires. Maybe if the tire noise is too much get a mini van. Also rotate your tires and check your alignment people.

Satisfied, but spendy

I went from the All-Terrain to the Mud-Terrain and am very happy. I have not noticed any road noise on paved surfaces. There is only a slight vibration at low speeds - as in coming to a stop. Excellent traction in snow, dirt, etc. They were expensive, but you get what you pay for.

100,000 miles, Why buy any other brand?

100,000 miles on BFG Mud Terrains on a 2010 Jeep Wrangler - it must be time to purchase some new tires. Imagine the miles I would've achieved if I'd rotated before 86,000! Well at least the spare is like new. BFG is my only brand from now on, although I'm going to try the AT K02s this time. Quiet on the road, a real force off road. Never any traction issues, tough as rock or steel!

Lasted 60,000 miles on my Rubicon! Great tires. Just like any aggressive tire, be sure to rotate every 3,000 miles. A+

"very happy with performance"

I have the km's on my Jeep Wrangler (daily driver), just over 3 years and 42,600 miles. 13/32" of tread currently remaining. I rotated tires every 6000 miles. They have performed excellent offroad (snow, mud, sand, gravel, and grassy fields) and on dry, wet, and snow covered pavement. Performance is acceptable on ice and snow packed roads due to traction control and anti-lock brakes. Noise level on pavement is slightly noticable but not an incovienence or unbearable. Overall, I am very happy with the km's and will be replacing shortly for a larger size km2.
