Reviews: Warrior JK Renegade Roof Rack System - 885

I don't have the rack yet, though I ordered it. That said, I wanted to let other readers know that the rack adds 7 inches to the height of the Jeep. I looked and looked and couldn't find this information anywhere so I called Warrior Products and wanted to pass that information on.

I have had this rack for about 2 months now and got it strictly for cosmetics and traveling purposes. The rack is by far the best looking rack if you have a fast back top or no top at all. I have a stock soft top and it still looks awesome. The installation was remarkably easy. It recommends 2 people to install it but 1 would be fine if you are strong enough to lift it into place. Its sturdiness is unquestionable, i am 250lbs and standing on it to place or adjust luggage or camping gear is no problem at all. Now for the durability, although I got it for cosmetic reasons I have tested it off road. Recently i was in up state NY and did some wheeling in the Adirondacks. I took a couple of tight squeezes under some crooked growing trees where the rack was ran against them. I though it was going to be damaged for sure but it was far from it. The rack did more damage to the 8 in diameter maple tree then the tree to the rack. The only thing that happened was some light scuffs on the powder coat. No bends, cracks, broken bolts, etc.... Its obviously no substitute for a roll bar but it might as well be labeled as body protection as well as a roof rack. The only thing i don't like about it is the noise that you get from it. Take my word, buy the air deflector. Without it, it sounds like a pack of wolfs are living on your roof. With the air deflector it quiets it down about 50-70 percent. All in all I am very impressed.
