Right Design Right Performance

This was a very good investment in performance capability. I added this and the tire carrier to my 04 LJ in 5 hours.Wow!! What a great combo.

Awsome Bumper, once installed

Fairly easy to install except for the 4 bolts behind the gas tank. Had to lower the tank to install on my 2005 tj. Also, bought longer bolts at hardware store to attach side braces to frame. Made that job a lot easier. Wouldn't take for the bumper now that it's installed. You just have to be patient and take your time with those 4 bolts behind the gas tank.

Solid protection, great upgrade!

Bumper is great, solid, gives rocks a hard time, and Im not sure if it was by design but the bumper protects the right and left rear lower corners of the tub which tend to take a beating. Swing arm comes seperate but I recomend it, it is a bit of a trick to get it to level out, and you can expect to have to lift it up a tad to get it to lock, but it's no real issue even with a 35" on there. Plan on setting some time aside. Getting the mounting by the gas tank is a pain but yes it can be done without dropping the tank, just prepare to be frustrated and kick and fuss like a kid in a toy store not getting a toy. Take the time and drop the tank, and do it with low fuel. I have slammed a few rocks and other than some powder coat missing from it, i's say the rock got the worst of it.

Great quality, great value

Love the product, absolutely zero complaints. It’s exceeded my expectations so far. I’m pretty capable when it comes to DIY Jeep projects. The instructions could use some clarification and better designation between the various pieces of hardware. It required some educated guess work and a re-do steps but nothing that would deter me from advocating for this product. I towed a trailer 1,100 miles the day after I installed it. Checked the hardware, everything stayed tight. Honestly couldn’t be happier with it.

Bodyshop

Smittybilt bumpers are very well built. Just mounted it on my 92 yj. I had to do some modifications to it since I'm leaving the renegade bodykit on it but I was expecting too. Not to many options out there that I liked. (Cons)Came with brackets that I wasnt able to use on my model. It wouldve been nice to have more solid mounts to the frame. ALL IN ALL HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IT

XRC rear bumper with tire carrier

What a great looking bumper. Put it on in about 5 hours but I am slow and detailed. Do yourself a favor and use a 5/8" bit to drill the 4 holes that are called for. The 7/16" is too small as the templates are not exact and the slightly larger hole will make it much easier to line up the bolts with hole in the limited space you will have. The 4WP tech confirmed this is what they do as well. On the 04-06 Unlimited models it is not necessary to drop tank as I was warned I guess due to the longer frame.....but definitely made my job easier. There is a little more hardware than you will use but I saved mine for a "just in case" later. There are brackets for both the TJ and the YJ you will use depending on your model. Install bracket as you are putting the two outside bolts in each end (TJ model) and save yourself a little time. Also, don't tighten or torque "anything" down until you have every bolt in place. You will need to move the bumper around to get each bolt in place. I used the center punch to line up holes. I think the finished product with the tire carrier looks great and well worth the money spent. Easily carries the weight of my 33 x 12.50. I am super pleased with the way mine turned out.

Money!

This is one stout bumper that mounts to the stock location on my LJ. Very easy to install as well. I towed my enclosed trailer with it and it did an outstanding job. Have a 35" tire mounted on the carrier and it works and works well. Smittybilt's customer service was outstanding as well. I called to confirm that I did not need to use the additional brackets that came with it and they answered on the first call.

Awesome Matching Bumper

Perfect beumper to compliment the front XRC bumper. Holes you will drill are a tad difficult to get the bolts into, but upon completion you will definately feel as you accomplished something big. Great purchase.

Great Rugged Bumper

Purchased the rear XRC rear bumper to match & compliment the front XRC bumper on a stock 98 TJ. Now a great looking customized, heavy duty rig with the option of purchasing spare tire carrier at a later date; which I did. The result is a matching black textured powder coat over white paint front and rear. I added the matching side steps later. Note, needs a little drilling if you are going to install the additional brackets to meet the stated towing load bearing capacity for a heavy trailer. If your're not towing a heavy trailer its an easy install. I elected not to install additional brackets. Its not going anywhere.

2006 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited

Where do I start? I am SO pleased with this Smittybilt XRC bumper and tire carrier combination. This was easy to install, did it myself in about 3 hours. Other reviews stated the gas tank had to be dropped, but with my Unlimited model, I did not have to do so. I looked at many bumper/tire combo's, but decided on this product. Shipping was fast, the product is of excellent quality, well engineered and built to last. Would highly recommend - looks awesome!

Installed this bumper one afternoon with some assistance from my Uncle helping me lift it into place. Great design definite improvement on the looks of the vehicle. This bumper has proven it can take a beating!

Sick bumper! Durable and tough looking!

It carries my 35 inch tire(I bought the tire carrier) and it's so freaking noticeable how much more my tire is secured. Plus, I have the spare adjusted to the highest setting and it makes my Jeep look bigger haha. Durable, good instructions for the most part(except the fact they leave out you have to drop the gas tank, put in hard to access bolts, and then trim the gas skid a bit so you can raise it back up with the bumper in place. Overall, looks amazing, is amazing, buy it.

Great Bumper & Carrier

This rear bumper w/carrier is awesome! Easy to install. Using a motorcycyle jack to lift the bumper to guide the 4 bolts and align them to the nut that's on the bumper. You'll need the right tools without lowering the gas tank. Installing the 4 bolts behind the bumper, I used a snap-on 3/8 17mm swivel w/a 10in. extention to tighten the bolts. It took me 2.5hrs to install. I would definitely do it again!

great bumper

great bumper. its heavy duty and looks great on my jeep. it took some time to install but was well worth it. the bumper requires you to drill holes into the frame that are near the gas tank that are impossible to get to.

Great Looking, Sturdy Rear Bumper

This XRC bumper looks great on my 02' TJ. Much heavier than the stock bumper, but that adds to it's durability. Had to drill 4 additional 7/16" holes into the Jeep. These 4 holes require you to drop the gas tank to get to the backs of them. Make sure to spray them up with some black paint to prevent any future rust. Had to notch out the skid plate in order to get the tank back in place. I found it very difficult to line up the holes for the very last bracket I installed. Please allow yourself plenty of time to get this done. Having a second person to help makes things go much faster.

04 TJ bumper fitment

Great bumper very heavy duty. You need to drop the fuel tank to put 2 bolts on the driverside crossmember. You will also need to cut the reese hitch about a inch to allow the gas tank down.
