Reviews: Smittybilt XRC Gen3 Winches

Had to use this twice and it performed perfectly. Once I saved myself up a muddy hill and just saved my buddy (2022 Jeep Rubicon) that was stuck in 1.5 ft of mud.

The Smittybilt XRC 9500 Gen 3 is a great winch. Smooth and quiet operation. The handset controller is ergonomic and easy to use. I especially like the magnets and the built in flashlight.

Great winch!! Perfect for enclosed trails and it looks so good.

Overall install was pretty straight forward. Instructions were well written and electrical was labeled which helped a ton. Operation has been easy and have had no issues.

More than I expected for the cost !! A welt built fine tuned well oiled machine !

Full featured winch at a great price. Not that I am an expert, and I have only used it for testing/training so I am lucky I haven't really needed it yet. I got this for the front end of a JT Gladiator Rubicon. Mounted it to a Rugged Ridge Spartacus bumper/winch plate so I could keep the OEM frame mounted tow hooks. It is a tight fit but worked out. The controller load indicator is a nice feature because I do not trust my ability to WAG the load. The magnet and LED illumination are also nice, as it the magnet for easy placement when working. I got the 9.5 K winch as that is most of the need at 1.5 times GVW of the JT and I have plenty of gear for a double or triple line pull if needed. I swapped out the cable and roller fairlead for a properly rated synthetic line and hawse, saving about 30 pounds or so. The cost of ta good line and fairlead were below the cost of a similar "comp" model of this winch. So far so good. I put a winch cover on to protect from road dirt and UV so I can't show off the fancy lighted controller box, but I did wire it into the fog light harness to show off if needed. So far, I think this is a great value winch from a reputable company. It fits the middle ground of a high cost Warn and other cheaper brands.

That's what pulled me into the purchase of this winch.

Fantastic winch at a great price! I was fine with the wired remote on this model, and was able to easily upgrade to synthetic rope with a new Hawse fairlead. Install was straightforward, but I did run into an issue because I dropped an Oring into a small opening on the motor side. Support from both 4WP and Smittybilt were great regarding my questions, (and I did need a new part) so I am happy to report solid reponse on parts/support.

Really solid winch. Wiring is really nice and neatly organized to hide all under the grill. I ended up getting a great deal during labor day and also ordered a synthetic rope which was free. Great team over at 4 wheeler parts as well.

Installation instructions were not as complete as I expected, but I didn't have any problems with the installation. Even though they specified blue Loctite for the rope anchor screw, they didn't include any. So I had to run to the auto parts store. You will also want to watch some YouTube videos to help you decide on the best wire routing for your Jeep. Overall, though, it's not too difficult. The winch ran smoothly loading the rope. The load indicator on the controller is a very nice feature.

Installed the winch in a couple of hours. No issues. Spooled out the drum and winched my wife’s Jeep in and it worked flawlessly!

Great transaction with the guys at 4wheel Parts, Can't remember the sales persons name but he was very helpful, I recently bought my Jeep and he came outside to check it out and was able to tell me the type of lift I have and give me pointers on different things about my rubicon. The winch was a breeze to install, I haven't used it yet but I'm happy to have it just in case!
