Reviews: Smittybilt XRC Gen2 Rear Bumpers

Very well designed to complement the JK body style and improve protection infinitely better than the stock plastic(!) bumper. The sacrificial sliding pads on the exterior surfaces are a game-changer; looking forward to trying them out in Moab. The hitch is literally worth more than a hundred dollars on its own and the bumper price doesn’t seem inflated to take advantage of that. The strength of and access to the hooks is as good as it gets.

I bought this bumper to replace my Rubicon factory bumper. The steel construction with double D-rings, hitch and back-up lights greatly enhance the jeep's functionality. Only slight disappointment was that the wiring for the backup lights was too short -- even for my 2-door. Easily fixed with some simple splicing - but how does a manufacturer mess up that measurement?

Extremely simple installation on my 2013 JK would recommend this very highly.

Order a set of sensor caps to replace the ones that don’t come off the JLU Sport stock bumper.

Took less than an hour to remove factory bumper and install this Smittybilt. It's a nice fit and includes a secret compartment behind license plate. Did not have to remove hitch to install either.

this bumper is a quality product, so happy i spent the extra money for the light textured model . Install was pretty straight forward & went well , more time was spent wiring lights but that’s only because i wanted all wires hidden & never will have an issue with them. shipping wasn’t bad either in spite of problems everyone is experiencing. would definitely recommend this bumper to anyone,

Added this to my 2018 JLU Sport (I did not personally install) and very happy with it. I echo the other reviewers - - definitely heavy duty and love the "aggressive" look. My pic does not really do it justice. FYI - I had the upgrade tire carrier installed as well. Also from 4WP. I think the 2 compliment each IMHO.

It installed easily and looks great. It matches the front Smittybuilt Atlas bumper very well. I also like that I can retrofit it with the tire carrier later on if desired.

The bumper itself is outstanding; solid, well constructed, quality powder coat. Like many others will state, the instructions are poor, but you can figure it out. The auxiliary lights are a nice add, but they're not as bright as you might expect. It would also be nice to be able to wire them directly into your reverse lights along with an optional switch control, but the factory configured option is solely controlled via a separate switch. 5 stars on the bumper, 3-4 on the lights, probably 2 stars on the instructions, but luckily its not that complicated.

Picture perfect fit. Easy to install with 2 people. Great low profile. I really enjoy this bumper.

I love the XRC bumper. It was a fairly easy install, the bracket that fits in the frame rail didn’t go in easy on my 09 JKU but I got it in there, probably permanently! Finish is great and the high mount lift points are great. The Class III Receiver hitch Mount is a huge deal. Many other comparable priced bumpers are not rated!!

This bumper looks great! Pretty easy to install and fits the Jeep perfectly. Teraflex definitely did their homework on the design of this bumper

The bumper is easy to install. The lights? That is a whole different ball game especially if you want them to work as back up lights and for back lighting. Instructions a bit vague on connecting the lights. Look up a YouTube video to make it easier. You can also go to Smittybilt website for more detailed instructions but still not that great.
