Very well designed to complement the JK body style and improve protection infinitely better than the stock plastic(!) bumper. The sacrificial sliding pads on the exterior surfaces are a game-changer; looking forward to trying them out in Moab. The hitch is literally worth more than a hundred dollars on its own and the bumper price doesn’t seem inflated to take advantage of that. The strength of and access to the hooks is as good as it gets.
Extremely simple installation on my 2013 JK would recommend this very highly.
I love the XRC bumper. It was a fairly easy install, the bracket that fits in the frame rail didn’t go in easy on my 09 JKU but I got it in there, probably permanently! Finish is great and the high mount lift points are great. The Class III Receiver hitch Mount is a huge deal. Many other comparable priced bumpers are not rated!!
This bumper looks great! Pretty easy to install and fits the Jeep perfectly. Teraflex definitely did their homework on the design of this bumper
Nice Looking and easy to install. Will not allow anything but stock tire to be used with stock tire carrier even though they say it’s good for oversized .
Solid unit, easy install. Aggressive looks. A couple of things holding me back from a 5 star rating: The led lights that the bumper came with. The mounting brackets for the lights do not seem very secure, and the lights themselves are not as bright as expected. And once installed, I discovered that I no longer had the clearance for my 35" spare that I did with the stock bumper. Now I have to source a relocation bracket!
Bumper looks great, feels solid, has tow rating! Instructions are not clear, but I'm mechanically inclined and could easily figure it out by looking at it. The lights it comes with are TRASH, plan ahead and get a different LED that will fit a hold 1.5" x 7.5" so you can install it in the bumper before mounting it up. The finish is more textured than expected and doesn't match other Smittybilt powdercoated black products.
The bumper is easy to install. The lights? That is a whole different ball game especially if you want them to work as back up lights and for back lighting. Instructions a bit vague on connecting the lights. Look up a YouTube video to make it easier. You can also go to Smittybilt website for more detailed instructions but still not that great.
Nice bumper. One of the LEDs started fogging up immediately after the first rain shower we had, so quality there a bit disappointing for a bumper at this price point, and begs the question of how long the other one will last as well. But otherwise so far (two months since install) the bumper looks good and working well.
Eventually mounted up very well. Would have been easier if I'd thrown the instructions out the window on the way home from picking up the bumper/carrier. Lay out all the parts, try to distinguish what the part numbers are, and maybe label them through elimination. There is an unmentioned smaller bolt packet, I'm assuming meant for the LEDs. Those have no instructions as far as mounting and wiring to a Jeep. Some of the steps are in poor order, especially if mounting the tire carrier as well. Leave everything loose until it's time to line up the tailgate bracket to the bumper.
