Reviews: Smittybilt Tent Annex - 2888

Received this about 10 days after we ordered it. We opened up our smittybilt XL and easily installed the annex. It’s well made, heavy and sturdy. It’s larger than I thought and we’re excited to use it. I wish it was zippered on all 4 sides at the top so it would be totally enclosed but it’s not a deal breaker.

Must have! Extra room and privacy. We placed our small bathroom tent inside the annex in order to use the honey bucket at night trot privacy and protection.

It is exactly what we needed to take our exploring to the next level. I have been apprehensive about spending the money but it is definitely worth every penny.

Awesome product. Lots of extra room and sets up quick. Perfect addition to the roof tent. Only draw back is it doesn’t do great in high winds. If the stakes come up the tent will blow around. Other than that it’s awesome.

This is far more complicated than the Overland tent, but totally worth it if you expect bad weather. It takes me about 30 minutes to get this open and staked down. Once it's up though, it adds enough space to eat and sit out of the elements. I rarely bring this with me, but whenever I'll be in one spot for more than 2 days I think it's worth it!

High quality materials. We did the research, looked at several other brands and Smittybilt stands well above. Why pay more for other brands?

Easy to set-up! I only wish it was made of the same material as the tent. Other than that, outstanding. Can't wait to do some rain camping now.

The quality of this product is great. If I was to change anything, it would be straps and buckles on the four corners of the annex, to adjust for different heights. This way you could sinch down the four corners tight to the ground to keep it tight. I will find a way to re-engineer the shelter to work for my application, (tent mounted on Top of truck bed). I also am going to move my tent to one side of my truck so the annex falls straight. Not everyone’s rig is 7’ off the ground.

Great add-on to our RTT. Now I can go down the ladder in my skivvies and nobody can see. The floor is very thick and looks durable. The floor also zips off if you want. The only down side for me is the zipper door to get into your vehicle is not in the right spot for an FJ Cruiser.
