Great Online Vendor, Great Product, Great Overall

This was the best purchase I've made in years. My overall experience with 4WP was awesome. This was a large item and I thought it would take some time to ship... It did not... it shipped quickly and it was delivered on time. The tent is amazing. It works better than expected. - Richard (Columbus Ohio)

Gen2 XL with Annex. Worth the Money.

First of all, I did not mount this on a vehicle. I mounted it on a 5’x10’ utility trailer that I use specifically for camping so it will stay mounted year round. All of the mounting hardware was included but it’s very generic. For my specific application I used some different hardware than what was supplied. If you don’t have access to equipment for lifting, like a fork truck, you’ll want at least one other person to help. The construction and quality of the components is very good. It’s not a difficult tent to set up but it is time consuming. I took my time and double checked bolts and what not the first couple of times. Now it takes me less than thirty minutes. The rain fly comes already attached but there are a bunch of straps to adjust before you’ll be happy with the fit and function. The tent is only water proof AFTER you follow the instructions for “seasoning” the stitching which I did several times. Mine had a couple of minor leaks at first which Smittybilt says is normal and expected. I also used some tent seam sealer in the spots I identified as “suspect”. It rained hard for several hours on our first night camping but we were bone dry. Seasoning and strap adjustment are just two reasons to set this tent up at home BEFORE you take it camping. I added a motion sensor light in the annex and made a simple hanger for a Buddy Heater that works out nice (don’t forget a carbon monoxide detector). The bed is pretty comfortable. I’m 5’10” & 215lbs. I sleep on my side so I like a little extra padding and added a 1.5” memory foam pad which does the trick. With the stock mattress, extra pad, sheet and comforter, I’m still able to fold the tent closed and secure it but I do have to take the pillows out or I can’t use the stock straps. I’ll probably swap over to some plain old ratchet straps like I’ve seen others do. The ladder and travel cover are really nice and work great. All and all I’m very satisfied. I would definitely recommend this tent but I wouldn’t recommend it for your first tent. If you’re new to camping, do yourself a favor and start with a much less expensive tent. This one and others like it are for committed, experienced campers who’ve already learned how much time, preparation, and expense are required to have an enjoyable camping experience and still do it on a regular basis anyway. Free advise so take it for what it’s worth.

Love it

Fits perfectly on my 1998 xj cherokee! It has enough room for two adults and 2 children! The Mattress is nice for me but others think they need more Cushions. I’m like a caveman I can fall asleep on rocks! The tent is a little loud in 20-30 mph winds especially if you don’t set the tent up completely! I Mainly use the tent in the Columbia River gorge where it is always windy!

Awesome Tent

It is a cool tent - nice to be off the ground and away from most of the bugs. The mattress is comfortable. 4WP are great - they helped me with bed stiffeners for Tacoma to avoid issues - they also were very helpful getting me the shoe bag that was missing. We have used the tent twice - the size is amazing - setup isn’t bad. The breakdown is little more intense than I was hoping but I am sure it will get better with practice - takes me about 15 minutes to break down and cover zipped.

Great product

10/10 product. Exactly what I was expecting and more! Our dog even loves sleeping in it. We just took a trip and it worked perfectly at all camp grounds.

Great so far

Great product so far, just used it for the first time last weekend. Only thing I have to complain about so far is I'm not sure how some people say they are able to fold it up with their sleeping bags and pillows. Maybe the ones I have are thicker than most because I could barely get it strapped shut with just the sleeping bags. I'm going to run a test though using the vacuum space saver bags and see if I can get it to work. If I can leave that stuff inside plus maybe an extra foam topper for the Mrs. then that will be a lot of space saved for other stuff in the vehicle.

Great tent.

Great tent! Love it. But one of the straps that goes around the cover was slightly torn. But besides that works perfectly!

Keeps you warm inside, comfortable and roomy.

I ordered the king sized. I have loved this since it arrived. Still waiting on a few replacement parts for the past 3 months now. However, it fits my Jeep well, it’s a trail hawk and has no issue with going through narrow trails for sure. Comes with LED lights a thick foam soft and comfortable durable mattress inside. I also leave my blankets inside and thin pillows. Don’t do to thick or it will possibly damage the set up. Or cause difficulty in folding the tent back up. Less bulky the better. As to my vehicles E-Break. It doesn’t at all jiggle it’s locked put. In 60mph winds I was more surprised on the vehicle for that one but man I recommend this. I camp my drive way on weekends when I don’t go off road.
