Reviews: Rugged Ridge Hood Catch Kits

In AZ it's really hot and the rubber hood latches would get loose. Hood would flutter at highway speeds, it's a little annoying. These went on easy, and it totally solved the issue. Plus they look good.

You notice how nice this set is as soon as you open the box and see the hardware, packing, and full instructions with color diagrams. This kit is much nicer than another brand I tried that fell apart after 2 years- heavier hardware and easier to install. Very happy with this purchase.

Use the OEM nuts with some tread lock. Looks good and feels safe after my passenger side catch tore.

They definitely eliminate the hood flutter of the stock catches and are good looking. You need to remove the horn on the left side to access the lower stock catch nut. I found it worked to take my sabre saw and trim away a little of the plastic on the right side and then that nut was easy to access. No need then to remove the grill.

You cannot begin to compare these Rugged Ridge Hood Catches with the OEM ones. They are what should be on the Jeep to begin with. A great product which is worth it's price. My one disappointment was that they are silver painted aluminum instead of a metallic finish. It would also be nice if there was a keyed locking mechanism, but I wouldn't consider this a detractor since the OEM ones are basically just rubber bands. They also require a rubber part that protects the fender from the OEM part.

Good looking latches that were straight forward to install. My OEM JK latches were too weak and the hood bounced too much. These latches look great and hold the hood down solid. I bought a set for my TJ as well!
