Reviews: Misch 4x4 Overhead Shelf - JSJK150P

First off this is made out of molded plastic not steel as in the product information but I knew that before buying thanks to 4WD customer support. It is not made for anything heavy like a CB or it will sag. I wanted to put a few heavy items on the shelf so a quick trip to the hardware store for some 1"x1"x1/8" x 48" aluminum angle and 2"x1/8" aluminum flat bar, the full length angle really made it solid and it will not sag at all now, mounted it inside the shelf at the lip and the flat bar was to build up the radio mounting brackets. Starting at the drivers side I mounted a 2"x4" speaker for the CB, next to that is a Icom v8000 (ham radio) then I mounted a Sig 40 p229 in a blackhalk serpa holster, next to that is a Cobra 29 lx and there's still room left for some other items. Also mounted a LED dome light in the center and it really lights up the interior now! I'm very happy with the whole setup. It took a whole day mounting all the items and another full day doing all the wiring. This was installed in a 2011 Jeep Wrangler. The shelf is about 10" deep and you have about 3 1/2" from the 1" id lip to the under side of the top, mine is a soft top. The whole setup was a little pricey but well worth it for what I wanted to do with it. After the reinforcement angle it's a 5 star!
