Reviews: Drake Hood Hold Down (Stainless Steel) - JP-190001-K

These hood latches were the perfect thing i needed to stop that hood flutter. Some things i would like to mention though. They are easy to install, but one side will be more of a pain than the other, just because lack of space differs on one side. I would also like to mention that i was missing the rubber hood rest on one side and I'm very glad i got these because with the stock latches it was starting to rub the paint off with metal on metal, but with these latches you can set the "depth" (i guess you could say) so i set it to where the hood sat just off the metal, and no more rubbing, perfect!

Money well spent !!!!! This should be a factory option !!!

After experienceing hood flutter in my JK, I started looking for something to stop it. I like the look of the Drake latches. I looked into building my own from stainless steel parts, and the parts total ended up being close to what Drake charges. My home built latches wouldn't have looked as finished as Drake's either. I have them installed on the Jeep and they look awesome. It gives the Jeep a very aggressive look and I get compliments all the time, and the hood never moves now. I selected "hard to install" as a con, this is a result of how the Jeep is built not Drake's design. If you can handle a wrench you will have no problem working in the tight quarters under the hood.

Works good stops hood flutter. Easy install. Been a few months no rust or corrosion so far and Jeep is always outside.

Fit great, no problem with installation. Read or watch ytube videos. So replace and forget.great product looks way better and your hood don’t start flapping in the wind when the rubber bands brake

Very easy install. Improved the look of my jk when I thought it wasn't possible. When you receive the package it says it's for 07-09 so I was freaking out but don't worry they fit my 2010. Again, amazing product thank you.

Time will only tell if they hold up seems like I might have a problem with them sticking but we will see. Over all look good and hold the hood down so no flutter. Pain in the butt to install the bottom portion of the latches but can be done with one person and nimble fingers. OR you can take your entire headlight assembly out I would recommended this if you want a different hood tie down and something that looks good too

I have has these for a week and I found my self gaining 2 miles per gallon already. They work awesome

Works well, looks good, but hard to install. Lower turn buckle channel narrows when tightened to body making reassembly on vehicle challenging

Ok these things are pretty darn cool. They are a bit costly but well worth it. Once installed...absolutely no hood flutter. Still easy to open hood and they look awesome. When mounting lower mount I did find it easier to pull off the front part of the inner fender so I could get a wrench on the nut. I would have given them 5STARS but I think they are a little proud on their price. But I am happy with them. Also noticed a jump in mpg.

The hold downs are a little difficult to install. I had a little trouble with the nylock nuts. Once completed they really improve the looks of the hood and they help with hood flutter.

Hood no longer bounces around going through Palm Springs pass.
