Reviews: Crown Automotive Fender Flares

Bought this fender flare set for my GF's 2001 Wrangler. Black on black, the original flares had faded to grey years ago. Crown flares are top-notch and bolt right up. This product had all needed flares (6) and every piece of hardware you might need. Actually, the mounting hardware I took off was like new and was reused. Very nice touch was that replacement push plugs were included to remount the rear wheel well liners; yes, they have to come out to mount the rear flares! This is not a highly technical project but it is fairly difficult. Tool and hand clearances are pretty tight. A 1/4 drive pneumatic ratchet will speed up the job.

I had a perfect fit with this set on my 1979 CJ5. The directions called for vice grips and some drilling, but I lucked out and didn't find this to be necessary. Like the earlier reviewer mentioned, heat them up in the sun before installation. It is worth noting that AMC changed parts and sub-manufacturers on a regular basis. This means that the parts differ slightly year to year, and you might not get lucky like I did.

Great product. Price is great and the fit is just right. I did take mine to a body shop and have put on. They said that the Flares where just like the factor ones. I would have put them on my self but didn't have the time. My old ones where faded really bad. They look great and will buy again from 4WD. Thanks

Bought as a replacement from a fender bender accident. Recieved the product quickly and in perfect condition, everything fit and matched exactly as OEM.

Be sure to let flares warm up in the sun before installing. Use three pairs of vice grips to clamp and hold flare to fender flange; one at the top/middle, and one several inches above each end of the flare. It's helpful to have a second pair of hands hold flare in position when clamping it to the metal flange on the jeep when marking and when installing. I used a 90 degree scratch awl to mark hole locations on fender (angled marker pen would be better); had to SLIGHTLY ream out holes on fender to make screws fit, but don't ream out holes too much. And don't ream out holes on plastic flare at all. Be as accurate as you can when marking hole locations.

The main fender flares fit well, but the two little extensions on the back of the front fenders didn’t quite have the angle where it met the front fender quite right. Loved the included hardware-they even included the “Christmas tree” connectors needed to reinstall the rear inner fender, which saved me a trip to the store. In short, I would buy these again.

they fit fine, except my little door pieces don't fit like they did...these flares are a different size, so, understandable...also, no instructions with the kit...we ended up usin our own hardware...if you have issues, contact me, I got the right hardware and the install went down like a dream once we figured it out!..great purchase for the money though!...
