    Electronic programmers and modules are key components in the modern world of computer controlled automobiles.     Programmers and Modules: What's the difference?

    Programmers - Programmers are generally devices that work in conjunction with your vehicle's data port. In general, they do not offer shift-on-the-fly power levels and tune changes are done with the vehicle off.

    Modules - Modules offer many of the same benefits as programmers; however, they are wired into the vehicle and work with the vehicle's ECU, changing its parameters to increase vehicle performance. Many of today's modern modules come with digital displays and loads of functions, ranging from monitoring vehicle systems to analyzing 1/4 mile times to coaching your driving to increase your fuel economy. Being semi-permanently wired in modules gives you the ability to change power levels on the fly, whether it is by a dash-mounted switch or a fancy touch screen display.
