The popularity of the Toyota Tacoma is well deserved. It has always been a rugged and reliable truck that is surprisingly capable in the dirt. The smaller dimensions of the Tacoma make it more agile, and it will go places full-size trucks simply can’t fit. Toyota’s mid-size truck has always been a favorite among overlanders and those looking for a truck they can drive for a lifetime. Another solid plus in the Tacoma’s favor is that it has an extensive aftermarket following. There are plenty of options when it comes time to pick out a suspension, armor, bumpers, and more.

Two of the latest bumper options for the trusty Toyota are the HiLine Series front bumper and Pro Series rear bumper from Body Armor. The HiLine Series keeps most of the Tacoma’s front fascia just replacing its center section. We like this option as it makes for a clean, low profile look. The semi-hidden style bumper also saves on weight over a full-width bumper. Even though it is lighter than a traditional bumper, the HiLine is still plenty beefy with 3/16-inch plate construction and a ¼-winch mount. That mount can accommodate a winch of up to 10,000 lbs. There are also built-in D-ring mounts and a cutout for a 20-inch dual row LED light bar. Installation of the bumper does require cutting of the factory fascia.

For the rear of the Tacoma, Body Armor offers the Pro Series bumper. Built from 3/16-inch plate, it completely replaces the stock rear bumper. Provisions for D-ring mounts as well as two cube lights are built right into the bumper. It works with the OEM hitch receiver but does not fit blind-spot monitors or backup sensors. Both add some much-needed protection to the Tacoma.
