No other modern 4×4 has as many aftermarket half and full door options available as the Jeep Wrangler or Gladiator. There are soft-doors, hard-doors and tube-doors of many different variations. Each door design has pros and cons, but they all make your Jeep more versatile and fun in a variety of driving conditions. A door swap can change the look of your Jeep, provide an airy outdoor feel and improve visibility off-road. Their affordable price and ease of installation make owning several different door styles a viable option. We’ve compiled some of the more popular door types and noted the advantages so you can stock up on your preferred Jeep door styles for all four seasons.
Tube doors from Rough Country are available for Wrangler and Gladiator models. The main structures are constructed from durable 1.25-inch tubular steel. They include rear view mirror mounting points and a convenient latch mechanism. Each door comes powdercoated black to resist corrosion. Increased visibility is perhaps the biggest advantage of these doors, but they clearly let more air in and personalize the look of your Jeep.
The next generation Smittybilt tube doors are easy to install and are available for the Jeep Wrangler JK and JL as well as the JT Gladiator. Each door is made from stout 1.75-inch diameter 0.120-wall steel tubing and features a heavy-duty latching system, an easy grip billet aluminum handle, door strap and a door bumper to prevent rattles. The doors mount to the existing hinge and mirror relocation brackets are included on front doors. Optional door skins and other attachments are available separately.
Fab Fours offers a variety of full-surround and half tube doors for the front and back of the Wrangler and Gladiator that are designed to be rattle free. The doors are made from 11-gauge steel and come finished in a two-stage black powdercoat. Optional mirror brackets are available to allow the installation of OE-style collapsible side mirrors on the front doors. The full-surround doors include an integrated sun visor.
Have you crushed one of your Jeep’s doors and simply need a factory replacement? No worries, Omix-ADA has you covered. Omix factory replacement doors accept both power and manual door systems. There is limited stock available of these doors so you have to be quick to grab them before they’re all gone. They are surplus items with minor imperfections and rust, which will need to be sanded and primed before painting to match your Jeep.
No one has a larger selection of Jeep doors than Bestop, and rightfully so. Bestop has been manufacturing factory and aftermarket Jeep doors and tops for decades. The company carries full, half, soft and hard doors for nearly every popular Jeep model. Combining hard lower half doors with soft uppers offers more seasonal versatility than full hard doors, but soft half doors may be all you want in warmer climates. To cover all your bases you might opt for the new Bestop Core half doors, which feature a rigid aluminum surround with a removable fabric inner panel. Core doors also have the ability to support a soft upper door.
Rancho Rock Gear tube doors are made from 1.25-inch steel tube and mount to your original equipment hinges. They retain the factory non-power non-heated mirrors on both sides and use the original style latch that can be opened from the inside or outside. Door limit straps are included to prevent the doors from swinging open too wide and damaging your vehicle. Included rubber bumpers insure the doors do not rattle at the latch. Rancho tube doors come with a black powdercoat finish and all necessary installation hardware.
Rugged Ridge offers a variety of aftermarket Jeep doors, including the Fortis tube doors. The Fortis doors are constructed from 2-inch OD steel tubing and are fully welded. Each door comes assembled with a rotary latching mechanism and factory-style hinge pins for a fast and easy installation. Optional Fortis tube door covers can be added to help keep out the elements. Matching side view mirrors are also available.
If you like the open air feel of tube doors, but feel naked not having something between you and the road, the Body Armor Gen 3 Trail Doors might be for you. The Gen 3 Trail Doors feature a full steel tube and plate construction with a dual stage locking latch mechanism. Nylon webbing with padded arm rests included keep your mind at ease and your arm comfortable, while the adjustable hinges and latch plate make for an easy installation. Each door is treated to a two-stage black powdercoat light texture finish and comes with anti-rattle bump stops.
You can get a more industrial look from your Jeep with the DV8 Rock Doors. The company offers several variants of open and mesh covered replacement Jeep doors. The aluminum mesh screens are removable and can be painted to match the vehicle or left as is. Each door features anti-rattle gaskets and a two-stage locking mechanism. Mirrors are included with Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT doors.
