How to Install a Truxedo Deuce Tonneau Cover

The Truxedo Deuce tonneau cover allows for access from both the front and the back of the truck bed.

Congratulations on your purchase of the Truxedo Deuce tonneau cover! One of the unique features about these tonneau covers is the ability to access the truck bed from both the front and the back, making it incredibly versatile. Of course, the installation can be a bit tricky, which is why the experts at 4 Wheel Parts are offering step-by-step instructions to help guide you through the installation process.

  1. Determine if you need to use the weather seal. You should use the weather seal if you have a bed cap but no bulk head protector.
  2. If you have no bulk head protector, get inside the truck bed and install the weather seal.
  3. Install two weather guard seals in the front corners of the truck bed. Make sure the seal is completely pushed against the side of the pickup.
  4. Install the side rails. Shut the tailgate, lay the first side rail against the side of the truck bed, and slightly compress the rear seal. Use a quick clamp to fasten it.
  5. Fasten the two permanent clamps, one at the rear and one as close to the hinge as possible.
  6. Repeat steps 4-5 with the other side rail.
  7. Drop the tailgate back down.
  8. Install the front underbody rails, which are marked driver’s side and passenger side.
  9. Place the weather seal side of the underbody rail up against the pickup. The C channel will face the inside of the truck bed and it should fit flush against the front of the rail you just installed.
  10. Use a quick clamp to keep it in place and fasten the two permanent clamps at the front band back.
  11. Repeat steps 8-10 with the other side rail.
  12. Install the cross member. Place brackets on either end with the square-headed bolt going in the slot.
  13. Get two square-headed bolts and slide one into each underbody channel.
  14. Fasten the brackets onto the bolts you slid into the channel with two washers and two nuts.
  15. Slide the entire cross member to even points on the back of the pickup and tighten the nuts/bolts.
  16. Rotate the front rails forward and lay your cover assembly on the back of the rails. Make sure the lever is on the driver’s side.
  17. Rotate the front rails backwards and attach to the cover assembly at the two slot locations to the bolts supplied in the header. Attach with washers and nuts. Slightly tighten the nuts.
  18. Rotate the cover assembly to the front of the pickup by grabbing underneath the cover and lifting it over your head and down. You may feel more comfortable having someone help you with this step.
  19. Adjust the striker to the rotary latch. Bring the header down to the striker and lock it in place. Make sure that the striker has some movement.
  20. Align the front end so it’s even on both sides and then tighten the striker.
  21. Tighten the cross member brackets, as well as the nuts/bolts on the header.
  22. Unroll the cover to the rear of the pickup and lock in place. If the cover needs to be tighter, open the cover, loosen the nuts/bolts in the header, pull the header toward the rear of the pickup until fabric is taut, and re-tighten the nuts/bolts.
  23. Open and close from both sides to make sure everything functions properly, and hit the road.
