Reviews: VIAIR 450H Hardmount Compressor Kit

The 450H is a hard-mount compressor that will make you the envy of your wheeling buddies when it comes time to run air tools or air the tires back up, especially when coupled with a 5-gallon air tank, or two. Most of us that wheel SUVs have a big gaping hole in the back, or maybe some of us still have that anchor of a stock spare tire in our rig that is undersized & un-useful if we are running bigger tires. Turn that cavern into an on-board air station! If you want to build a system specifically for your truck, this is a great pump for you!

I mounted this compressor under the hood of my Jeep YJ (where the stock jack goes on the wheel well). I also used the remote filter kit (included) to tie into my engine intake airbox. This thing performs great, airing up my tires after a day at the beach just take a couple of minutes and I'm off on the road again. However, I went cheap on the 200# rated hose and blew the first one on account of heat. This compressor gets good and hot under load, and so does the compressed air (duh, right?). My first hose got hot, weak, and burst. Would not recommend for air tools, though I have not actually tried this, all I do is air up my tires.
