I bought this tire because it mounted to the frame through the bumper and is also bolted to the tailgate. It is timed to open with a one handed operation. The Rotopax mounts are a nice extra. But with most wheel offsets plan on purchasing a wheel spacer to provide clearance. You will also need a vertical hi-lift Jack mount, if you want to use that option on the carrier. Overall very pleased with the product.
Very sturdy. Heavy but in a GREAT, solid way. So much better of a solution than just throwing a 35 Spare on the OEM tailgate.
Love this thing, took all the weight off the tailgate.
some instructions very poor to non-existant. If you're not good with tools, working with your hands, or good a jerry-rigging, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL SOLO.
Well designed tire carrier. Has all the attachments-Rotopax, CB antenna, high lift jack. It just rattles a bunch.
Solidly built tire carrier. Losing a star because the included instructions are awful and there are LOTS of leftover parts. also, you're going to need a wheel spacer (or two) to mount a wheel that doesn't have a real deep backspacing. Otherwise, easy to attach a hi-/lift mount, rotopax cans and accessories. Looks great, feels sturdy.
Solid and heavy, no rattles. Finish is great. Instructions were a little difficult. Will not fit a stock wheel, will need to purchase a specific spacer/mount for the spare tire. The wheel studs are a pain to install and you will need a press, ball joint press, or some type of vice to get them all the way installed. I had a sagging tailgate and this lifted it up. One open Operation is easy And works as advertised.
It looks great and seems to be heavy duty.
Eventually mounted up very well. Would have been easier if I'd thrown the instructions out the window on the way home from picking up the bumper/carrier. Lay out all the parts, try to distinguish what the part numbers are, and maybe label them through elimination. If you purchase this w the bumper, mount the pivot bracket, drill out the bottom hole, set a nut plate, temporarily remove pivot pin bracket, and THEN mount the bumper. Some of the steps are in poor order, especially if mounting the tire carrier as well. Leave everything loose until it's time to line up the tailgate bracket to the bumper.
