I wanted a mount that wouldn't interfere with the washers. This did just that. And looked awesome
After lifting my JK and adding new bumpers, I knew that I would need a trail jack and a secure way to mount it. After looking at a number of kits, I settled on this one because it keeps the jack out of the weather and pretty much out of view. The mounts are versatile and give you 3-4 inches of play, up or down the rear roll bar. It is better if you loose fit the two ends and tighten them after you get your jack attached and leveled. I have no issues with the jack being stowed across the top of the tailgate opening because I can reach over or under it to load. Consider purchasing the rubber insulator for your jack handle and you won't have to endure any metal on metal rattles, coming from the rear.
Its easy to install if you don't use your plastic hinge covers. Make sure you check the template first, holes don't match the bolt pattern. Use 3/4" to 1" drill for clearance. Once you get past that, its a breeze to install. Good solid mount that looks good.
I originally owned a hardtop YJ. This product worked great for keeping my jack in place and out of the way. I now own a TJ with a soft top and have discovered that I can't fold my soft top down with the jack and mounts installed. Bottom line: If you have a hard top, buy it. If you have a soft top, I would find something else.
Great product that is solid and sturdy. However, the installation instructions were confusing and not accurate. Once I figured it out it works and looks great!
Bought this mount and the smittybilt jack to go with it. Unlike it says in the questions section. That jack will not fit in this mount. It has a huge base plate.
The mount is very easy to install and provides good security. Works well. The only major draw back it that the bottom mount screw tends to loosen up and the jack rattles quite a bit. Would add a lock nut and a nub on the bracket to keep the jack from moving foward and rattling out of the back clip. That would stop the noise. The other issue is that it should be moved about a 1/2" over to the right. If the rear glass is up and the gate is closed the jack hits the glass. Could cause an issue.
This is a tough well thought out product with a few minor exceptions. The drilling of the hinge plates is not explained but without drilling, the hinge plates cannot be re-installed. The actual metal does not fit within the hinge bracket as shown but necessitates the use of the spacers. The spacers, washers, plastic hinge plates, and mounting bracket must all go on at once, so if you have three hands, or a helper that listens, this can be accomplished quite easily. Once the bottom bracket is installed, leaving the bracket loose, you must loosen the top hinge bracket and thereby loosing alignment of the gate. At this point you are in trouble, so leave the gate closed! Align and tighten the top bolts while lifting up on the mount. This will ensure your gate alignment will be pretty darn close. Tighten the remaining bolts and install your jack and lock and your done. Nice and tidy.
Holds the Hi Lift jack tightly. Not the easiest for removing and reattachment of the jack, but will probably keep it from getting stolen. Works great for me. I'm not planning on using the jack on a regular basis.
As others have stated the instructions are very confusing. If you are installing the Jack mounting bracket with the Spartacus Spare Tire support and hinge you only need the two outer hinge bolts and the long spacers. Once I figured that out it works like a charm. I found it works perfect out of the box.
Actually my customer already had a jack mount just like this on his rig but we ordered it thinking this was a better unit. I corresponded thru email to try and get a return tag for this item but have seen no messages thru email. My name is Scott K. in parts department and email is skaser@larrygreen .us. Any help would be appreciated and thank you.
All the reviews I read said the instructions were awful, parts were hard to arrange, etc etc. took me thirty minutes with basic tools to install. I just left the hinge covers off in case I ever change my mind. Instructions were clear, logical and simple. Product seems sturdy. Jack fits. Doesn't rattle.
I had to 1/2 uninstall the lower bracket to install the bracket. You really need to figure it out because the instructions are so bad. I installed the lower bracket fully. Then installed the driver side of the upper bracket and loosely installed the passenger side of the upper bracket. I then undid the passenger side lower bracket and loosened the driver side lower bracket. I then re-installed the lower bracket with the bracket on it. This was hard to get the spacers behind the bracket and through the hole I had to drill in the cover. It was annoying, but in the end it was worth it, the installation looks great.
I am real happy with the mounting bracket.Easy to Uses Dont have to bend over to get to your Jack, and you can lock it. Witch is nice to know it will be there when you return. GREAT PRODUCT.
Nice to have a product to secure jack inside my jeep to keep it out of the elements. Secures jack from moving around and making noise. Only problem/issues that I see is that it limites the access into the rear area of the jeep, it would be a great enhancement to modify the product to mount higher in the roll bar to allow full access to rear area.
Keeps the jack in its place
