Reviews: Michelin LTX A/S Tires

As a sales rep, I travel 40K+ miles a year in my 2006 GMC Sierra w/t, with the 4.8 V8 and automatic trans. I drive 75 mph on the highway, and my truck is constantly loaded with hundreds of pounds. These tires were advertised as low-rolling-resistance, and that is true, I could actually FEEL the reduction in rolling resistance when they were installed. But the proof is in the MPG. I averaged 17.6 mpg before these tires. After installing these tires, my average has risen to 18.4 MPG. Thats combined hwy/city, real-world driving, as I figure my mpg at every fill up. I have over 40,000 miles on these tires, and they have approximatley 50% tread remaining. These tires have saved me over a 130 gallons of gasoline over the last year, and have already paid for themselves in gas savings. With another year or so left on them, they will have actually MADE me money. How many tires do THAT? Previous brands on my truck have been General (2 sets), Kelly (1 set), and Goodyear (1 set). These Michelins have been the best wearing, AND the most efficient. Downside? A small one, as they tended to follow the rain grooves on the freeway when brand new. Either they "broke in", and they stopped doing it, or I have just become used to it, as I dont notice that trait anymore. Excellent tire, I will purchase another set next year.
