Put this on my CJ 4.2 when my stock unit bit the dust. I love this thing it is all I hoped it would be!! Quite smooth and turns the motor over with no hesitation!

Tried it out on the trail for the first time, and liked the ample torque for starting in gear on hills. There were a couple of installation issues: 1) the solenoid terminal location is different than the OEM unit, so a short extension to the wire was necessary; 2) the thickness of the unit at the lower mounting hole is 1/4 inch less than the OEM unit which meant that the stock bolt bottomed out before purchase with the unit, so substitution of a 1/4 inch shorter mounting bolt was needed. Other than those two minor install issues, works well.

The Mean Green starter is very well made, drops right in and bolts right up. My only critique is that you have to modify the wiring to hook it up. The location of the wiring terminals does not allow you to just attach the main battery wire, so you have to reroute it, and it has a screw terminal for the relay/control wire so you have to modify it or make an adapter. Other than that, I can't recommend it enough!
