Locker fit in the 2000 Cherokee housing okay. After I inserted the axles, I found the stock C clips wouldn't fit into the pockets in the side gears. The pockets are about .050" smaller than the C clips. I sanded the clips down on a disc sander until they fit. The rest of the installation went well. After installation I have a noticeable 'thunk' in the drivetrain when alternating between coast and drive, presumably due to the free-play in the locker. The pinion shaft rotates about 1/8 turn before the gears engage. I have three other jeeps with Detroit Lockers. They all make a little noise, but this one is noticeable. Maybe it will quiet down as I get some miles on it.
