Reviews: Bestop HighRock 4x4 Oversize Tire Carriers

Overall this is a very good product. Only 1 installation issue: Instructions state the 'jack nuts' to install in holes that you drill are 1/4-20. They supply 1/4-20 bolts. But they send you are metric 'jack nuts'. Following the instructions, I trashed one of the 'jack nuts' before I realized this. I called 4WD, they called Bestop. I was told they DO NOT stock that part, needs to come from China. After more than 2 weeks, I have still not recieved the promised replacement. My installation is still NOT complete! Bestop needs to change the instructions to state that the 'jack nuts' are metric AND supply metric bolts.

This takes the weight directly off of the tailgate and installs pretty easy with a minimal amount of tools required. The hardest part was removing the 2 old torx bolts from the roll bar to add the support bracket. I had to buy some special sockets to remove because these wound up stripping and turned an easy task in to a project.

I look for years to find a tire carrier that did not hang off the weak frame rail ends on my TJ, and this is it. The body takes the weight and nothing but the bumper is on the frame rails. I go wheeling as well as daily drive the vehicle this is on and it does not RATTLE or SQUEEK. It also sit tight to the tailgate only a 1 1/2" further out than the stock carrier.
