I have had other versions of this same cover on other trucks. They are very robust. To be honest, if they are used a great deal then I think they have a life of about 5 to 7 years. The locking mechanism and bar inside simply get worn out. In theory, they should last forever, but if you use it a great deal as I do, they have finite life. However, this is much better than a soft cover. I would not call these 100% waterproof, but it does a more than reasonable job. I just seem to see a little water leakage around the edges. Really not a huge deal considering the extensive benefits. Installation is not terrible, but it does take (or really should) two people for installation. I have installed a couple and it generally takes about 30 to 45 min. n my opinion, the best benefit is the ability to lock in place at any rolling location. It is certainly the most secure option for keeping items safe in the back of the truck. One note people often do not realize, if it freezes out and there is any water on the cover, no way it opens. Ice keeps the cover from rolling up. I live in the MW and this only opens a few times a year, so not a huge issue. One other negative is that you do lose about 10 inches of bed space due to the container the covers rolls into. My son hates this, but if I need to haul larger items, I have two 20 ft trailers. This items is not cheap and I really think it could be about $500 cheaper, but welcome to capitalism. Overall, I would certainly recommend this item over any other option. I do not see any benefit of the electric opening version. Seems like something to break and that part is very expensive.
