having a difficult time finding a mounting kit for my 2021 F-350.
1.0Great strong winch that wont work when you need it
I purchased this winch from 4 Wheel Parts about a year ago. 4 Wheel Parts is a fine company, the Winch was sent and arrived as promised. I installed the winch in my 2020 Jeep Gladiator and I thought it was great!
I charged the "Advanced Wireless Controler" and put it in the center console of the truck. Fast forward a few months, I got my tractor stuck in a creek bed while mowing a pasture. I walked bake to the house and got the truck. I took the "Advanced Wireless Controler" out of the center console and pushed the button. It would not power on. Dead battery! I plugged it into the USB port in the truck and it powered up but I had to leave it plugged in to use it. I got the tractor out of the ditch and left the "Advanced Wireless Controler" plugged in to charge. When it was fully charged I unplugged it and put it in the center console of the truck.
Fast forward a few months. I'm cutting firewood and would like to pull a log up onto the road. I get the "Advanced Wireless Controler" out of the center console. DEAD Battery! Fine, I plug it in to use it.
There is a common problem here.
I have now tested the controller by changing the battery in it and then going back a few days later. DEAD. I have done some searching on the internet and have found I am not the only one with this problem. Even after the controller is powered off there is a parasitic draw the kills the battery in a few days. I have even seen a few reports that the battery is so dead it will not even power up when plugged in. Imagine that if you are in the outback by yourself. There is no other way to control this winch. You're dead in the water!
I can highly recommend Warn winches just don't buy one with the "Advanced Wireless Controler"!
In 1948, Arthur Warn founded Warn Industries to construct locking hubs for surplus World War II Jeeps. Ten years later, the Warn winch was manufactured to fill the need for a reliable recovery tool to aid off-roaders stuck in challenging situations. Since then, Warn has grown to offer a wide range of gear with the hallmarks of durability and affordability. 1988 spawned the aftermarket industry's first ATV winch and today their PowerSports line of winches ranks among the most esteemed in the industry and jeepers call on Warn for electric, hydraulic and severe duty components that get the job done.
