The all-new WARN VR Series includes the VR8000, VR10000, and VR12000 with 8,000, 10,000, and 12,000 lb. capacities, respectively. All of these units feature series-wound motors for plenty of power; brakes that hold the full-rated load for great control while winching; three-stage planetary geartrains for speed, durability, and reliability; corded remote controls; and 94-feet of durable wire rope. All of these winches are backed by the WARN limited lifetime warranty, too.
I ended up buying a VR12,000 winch a few years ago & just now really tested it to see what it got... My brother got his 30,000Lb 75 foot boom truck stuck with 8,000Lbs of wood chips in the rear box. The truck got stuck in 6 to 8 inchs of slick *** red Georgia clay... It took about 45 mins or so to get it pulled to where the truck finally started getting grip. The pull was around 70 foot in length & had to use a single cable pull method because I forgot all my shackles @ home. Which it didn't seem to matter to the winch because it never strained once under the almost 40,000Lb load...I really need to get another one to install out back under the bed of my truck & won't have to ever worry about staying stuck anywhere...

warn should make a better remote, cant be that costly, would greatly improve product

corded remote doesnt seem to be of high quality, kind of flimsy, cheap. the cordless remote is a lot better quality.

Great winch at great price point
I have a Toyota Tacoma 4dr long bed. I pulled an 8' cedar tree out of the ground with this last time out. Only problem I had was the truck was being dragged along the path.

A lot of Winch for the money
I replaced a failed Smittybilt with this Warn unit. Looks like much better quality for a small step-up in price. Comes with a different remote than in picture. I only use winch maybe 5-7 times a year, this one works great out of the box, only time will tell about longevity, the Smitty XRC lasted barely two years and failed leaving me stranded. I have heard nothing but good about Warn

I have a 2015 Can-Am Maverick, is product able to be controlled by a separate interior mounted switch. I will be custom building a bumper to accommodate a winch, is this too much winch for this application?
Shannon from Mudhole Louisiana on
The Warn VR8000-s Winch is way too much for your application. I suggest the WARN Vantage 3000 Winch part number WAR89030.

In 1948, Arthur Warn founded Warn Industries to construct locking hubs for surplus World War II Jeeps. Ten years later, the Warn winch was manufactured to fill the need for a reliable recovery tool to aid off-roaders stuck in challenging situations. Since then, Warn has grown to offer a wide range of gear with the hallmarks of durability and affordability. 1988 spawned the aftermarket industry's first ATV winch and today their PowerSports line of winches ranks among the most esteemed in the industry and jeepers call on Warn for electric, hydraulic and severe duty components that get the job done.
