A: You use Hawse fairleads with synthetic line because otherwise it has a tendency to get stuck in the corners between the rollers and ruin the line.

As a policy statement, they advised that steel cable often damages the drum in ways that are not an issue for steel cable, but can do damage to a synthetic rope. Also, they cannot endorse the attachment method as they are difference for steel cable versus synthetic rope.
