Installed on 2005 Jeep LJ. First off, it's the low key look I wanted with a tow bar receiver. Stout, thick steel construction. However, a few issues. Relatively thin D-ring mounts, 5/8". It only uses 4 of the 6 OEM bolt locations to attach to the frame of the Jeep which concerns me a bit. The flanges that attach to the bumper are not fully welded, just four 4" welds over around 32". But my biggest issue is the aesthetic of there being nothing to cover the 3" gap between back of the bumper and the plastic trim below the grill. I called the company and they said they've been making these bumpers for 20 years and they've rarely gotten a call about this. So, I fabricated a "cover" out of aluminum diamond plate and painted it black. Not Ideal, but does the job.
Q: How does this bolt up and how hard is it to do?? Answer this question
A: Hello Ryan, the Tomken Machine Front Winch Bumper with D-ring Mounts part# TOMTMF-0638-B can be bolted on using basic tools. This is about a 5/10 for difficulty. Thank you for your inquiry.
