PRODUCT OVERVIEW
When wheeling off road you can never have too much protection. The new Smittybilt skid plates are designed to provide the ultimate protection for essential components. Each skid plate is manufactured out of thick 3/16 steel to take hard hits on the trail. They are precision laser cut for a perfect fit and come with quality hardware for an easy bolt-on installation. No drilling required.

Skid plate is fine, directions are trash
The universal fit for many models can make instructions hard to write but these were just horrible. They didn't even provide the type of bolts listed in the directions and we thought we received the wrong hardware. Maybe we did. Looked on the website, and couldn't find the skid plate on smittybilt's site. We just threw them out and made it work with common sense but that's not a good way to go in most cases. Plate is thick and heavy. Powder coating looks nice.

Q: Why does this require a 2 inch lift? The transfer case skid plate does not list this as a requirement. Answer this question
A: It actually is needed for the engine skid plate to give room between the skid plate and the front differential. I have an Ultimate Dana 44 front Diff and I had to slightly modify the diff housing and mounting bracket for clearance.

A: Because of the driveshaft angle will hit the skid plate with out the lift

A: That square cutout door is to drain the oil. So clearly this skid covers both the oil pan & and the transmission. Check YouTube or ExtremeTerrain for better pictures.

A: Hi WolfmanMSU84, This Smittybilt XRC Transmission Skid Plate does cover a small portion of the engine toward the rear, however it's primary design is for complete protection of the transmission. Thanks for your question.
