I went with everything Smittybuilt with the hopes that everything worked well together. I liked the design of this carrier because, 1st it swings with the rear door (great feature). 2nd I wanted to be able to mount two gas cans (Totopax) behind the spare as advertised. No such luck on item 2! I've done a bunch of work to finally get two cans mounted behind the tire then to realize that the steel provided by the manuf. is not straight. back to drawing board for fabricating mounts. (drives me crazy when things are not straight) also tried to contact Smittybuilt to find out how they might have been able to get a rotopax to mount to the their setup. No response to emails or voicemail. I have just outfitted a new JK with pretty much everything they sell and for the money I have invested you would think customer service would want to keep me happy. Nope! I like all of the XRC product designs but because of the lack of support from Smittybuilt, i'm done with them

10a bumper install
It looks great and seems to be heavy duty.

Much better than adding weight to your tailgate
Eventually mounted up very well.
Would have been easier if I'd thrown the instructions out the window on the way home from picking up the bumper/carrier.
Lay out all the parts, try to distinguish what the part numbers are, and maybe label them through elimination.
If you purchase this w the bumper, mount the pivot bracket, drill out the bottom hole, set a nut plate, temporarily remove pivot pin bracket, and THEN mount the bumper.
Some of the steps are in poor order, especially if mounting the tire carrier as well.
Leave everything loose until it's time to line up the tailgate bracket to the bumper.

Good Bumper for the Price
Great Tire Carrier, the only issue I had with it was the locking mechanism on the tire carrier swing, Called Smittybilt and they sent me another one right away. I know this is not a big American company but this is a good bumper for the money and is a great improvement

When installing with XRC Bump Mount 1st
'94 YJ Install. If you're installing on the SB XRC rear bumper, mount the hinge and latch brackets to the bumper loosely before installing the bumper or else it's a "B" to get it on there. You think SB would tell you that in the instructions or 4W Parts would tell you when you drop $2k with them but they don't.

strong tire carrier
great looking and well made tire carrier. the tire carrier has a strong hinge and handle that function well. it also has a safety feature that keeps the tire from hitting the side of the jeep if it is left unsecured. couldnt ask for a better product

Best quality and best value. I wouldn't change a thing, I am very happy. Not I can finally get the tire off the tailgate.

Strong and easy to use
Already commented with bumper review, but this carrier is the bomb!
Super tough, lost of adjustment depending on tire size and easy to use. No rattles - the rubber bushing at the handle snugs in tight for a solid closed position. The spare (33") is now actually lower than when on stock mount which gives me more vision out back.

One tough, heavy bumper!
I'm so happy to finally get the weight of that 35 off of the tailgate. I love the look, design, and durabilty of this bumper/tire carrier. Install was easy enough, but requires a buddy (this is one heavy bumper). It can rattle a bit when on say a washboard road. Over all I love and would definately recommend.

Great Tire Carrier - Easy Install
Stock spare tire carrier puts a lot of load on the tailgate when carrying an oversized tire. This tire carrier relieves this problem by transferring the weight of the tire to the bumper and frame. Solid construction, took about two hours to install. You will need to extend the wiring for the brake light a little as the stock wiring will not be long enough for the new tire carrier to swing open.
Overall it is a pretty good look and is solidly built.
