The rear bumper is manufactured out of 3/16 inch cold rolled steel and comes standard with a built in class III receiver hitch and two solid d-ring mounts that are welded on the inside and out for maximum strength.
Like others this not a easy install on rear, one person can do it, you just have to think outside box! Rear bumper is heavy use a chair, set bumper on chair slide in to place followed with floor jack and blocking for finishing fit!

WAY better than stock
Eventually mounted up very well.
Would have been easier if I'd thrown the instructions out the window on the way home from picking up the bumper/carrier.
Lay out all the parts, try to distinguish what the part numbers are, and maybe label them through elimination.
There is an unmentioned smaller bolt packet, I'm assuming meant for the LEDs.
Those have no instructions as far as mounting and wiring to a Jeep.
Some of the steps are in poor order, especially if mounting the tire carrier as well.
Leave everything loose until it's time to line up the tailgate bracket to the bumper.

Once installed; a strong product.
Two competent people to assemble or pay someone who does installs of offroad equipment for a living; not a easy or quick install process. Lots of tools required to complete. Did front and back bumper with tire carrier. Lots of work but worth it.

Stock Rim/Tire will NOT fit
The cut out for the tire in the base of the bumper will not allow the stock tire/rim to be used. The backspacing on the rim is too much. It is not a major issue. 1. Most buying bumpers are upgrading rims anyway. 2. You can buy a spacer.
However, that should be noted in the description. It cost be an extra $99 for a spacer :\

Great look, little pain to install
Love the bumper. With included frame tie-ins, this thing is solid! Textured finish is great. Looks awesome. Install is a PAIN, until you realize you need to drop the fuel tank. Instructions dont mention this, but you CANNOT get to all four inside bolts if you dont (at least on my 03 TJ). As others said, drill larger holes than it says for the inside 4. Put a floor jack under your tank, unscrew the four screws holding gas filler and unbolt the 7 nuts holding the tank in place. Lower 6" with the jack then its easy as pie from there. One exception, when I raised my tank back up, the rear upper gas tank skid plate flange was unable to be raised all the way cause the rear of the receiver on this bumper- sticks out about .25". I had to cut out a 2 inch section of the flange so it could clear the receiver (rear portion).

lacking in fitment quality
This is not a direct bolt on product. grinding and trimming need to get correct fitment. price is right but paying more for a different bumper / tire carrier would be worth saving on install frustration. will need more than hand tools to install. missing hardware. rattles on rough roads.

Product looked great on the jeep, you going to need help to install. Directions were not that detailed. Also make sure you chase the threads, the powder coater forgot to plug them.

Poorly designed brake light and carrier.
Rugged looking bumper and convenient receiver built into the bumper.
The bracket for the brake light had broken 4 times in 3 years. It is too thin and flimsy. It vibrates and will eventually break leaving your light and bracket dangling by the wires. The bracket will scratch your paint.
The tire carrier lacks adjustability. The roll pin doesn't align with the keyhole. It requires great effort to rotate the handle and swing the tire carrier away from the vehicle.

Tire carrier spindle cover is not needed or easy to install. I left it off and it works fine without it.
I would like to put this bumper on my 2015 JKU but was wondering if it would fit because I have a factory hitch receiver mounted on the jeep from the factory and i noticed that this bumper comes with its own hitch receiver.

Yes, this bumper will fit, however you will need to remove the factory hitch. Thank you for the question.

Does this bumper and/or its' tire carrier have a location to mount a Hi-Lift jack?
Brent from Pearland, Tx on
this bumper does not have a jack provision. However, we do offer the Rugged Ridge Off Road Jack Mounting Bracket Part Number: RUG11586.01 that will allow you to install a jack to the factory tailgate hinges. Thank you.
