A: Synthetic rope is a great product for many vehicle recovery situations. If you winch a lot and are concerned about weight, synthetic can be a great option since it is lightweight and easy to handle. It doesn't develop sharp burrs like steel rope, and doesn't store as much potential energy when under load. On the flip side, synthetic rope is more prone to abrasion, and should be regularly inspected for frays or other damage caused by UV, chemicals, and overall use. And when using synthetic, you always want to lay down the abrasion sleeve when needed to guard against rope damage.  Steel rope is extremely durable, and is good for both vehicle recovery and utility work, such as moving trees, rocks, etc., since it resists abrasion very well. Ultra-violet wear is also not a factor with steel rope, and it may be a better choice for you if you don't frequently use your winch. Steel rope is heavier than synthetic, can develop rust, and can also develop sharp burrs. This is one reason why we always recommend users always wear heavy gloves to protect their hands while handling the rope. 

A: I have the 12K with synthetic. Regular cable would last longer but the synthetic is so much easier to deal with. But it’s really personal preference. Either way you will be good.  

A: Both cables will last just as long, it depends on how you take care of them. Both will fray if you scrape them against rocks. The rope is lighter and safer for use, if the line was to ever break, it would fall to the group instead of snapping like the cable. My personal preference is the rope.

A: (1) Picture is inaccurate - you must use angle grinder to cut hook off. (2) if you have the 4 added power switches on you JEEP run the LED to the accessory wire in this bundle (located on passenger side inside engine compartment). Else, run this to the running light wire located in front of the air cleaner powering the passenger side headlight.

A: The hook is removable comes uninstalled in the box. As for the running lights, I guess that is personal preference.. I don't care to have it constantly on and have it wired into my warn power interrupt so the running light is only on when the winch has power.

Hydraulic winches require energy from the engine’s hydraulic power steering pump. A: I would assume that bumper has the universal winch mount, so again to assume this would work. The only thing is it comes with a permanent shackle on the winch line, I cut mine off to put a factor 55 one on.
