5.0 Nice fit.

Fit well in my Warn semi-hidden winch bumper on my 2014 4runner. I wish paper instructions were included, but it was only a small hassle to find them online.

5.0 Smittybilt XRC Gen 2 Winch

I have purchased several of these Gen 2 Winches over the years. Some have been more utilized than others, but they have held up well and have no complaints. For a number of years they have been one of the best winches at the given price point. You have to keep an eye on sales, as with most things, they have gone up in price over the years and if there isn't a lot of spread in price when you are ready to pull the trigger, I might opt up to the Gen3, as it has a few additional desireable features. Probably nothing that will separate you from getting home or not, but they are worth a look if the price is close at the time. Assembly and installation of this winch are pretty straight forward.

Q: Can you tell me what size inline fuse or fusable link I should use with this winch. Thank you Answer this question

A: I would not use nor do I use an in-line fuse. During heavy pulling it can exceed the current capability of your battery or alternator internal regulator, unless the fuse is <150amps and slo-blow, it will blow everytime if you put a dead load on it... if neither object is moving you could in theory pull 550 starting amps, ouch. That’s why you need a 650cca battery and minimum 160Amp alternator. In fact I only run 750-800cca amp battery, deep cycle, sealed gel and a 200amp alternator on all 3 of my jeeps... No start situations are a no no! If you shut down right after a hard pull, past 2 windings, on a factory 600cca battery and 160Amp  system, (alternator stock) cold outside or 2-3 year old battery, pray to Jeep gods the 400amp starter will do its job or you get to push if manual or call a buddy if automatic... a good 160Amp alternator at 1200 rpm on a brand new stock battery will take 20-30 minutes to reach a fully charged state after a 2-3 minute hard pull on the winch and if your running (My) 42” LED bar, 6 4” cubes, headlights and fog lights which go through the clock spring and TIPM... which mine do because of state lighting laws, your battery or winch solenoid could actually be drained to point of no return or burn through on output winding side. The TIPM and clock spring  system power distribution and priority will deprive power to direct connect aftermarket items to support and protect ECM/TCM/CANBUS. “ASSUMING 2007JK and later.”

A: I don't have one, nor do any of my friends have one on their winch. This winch, per the manual, draws 435 A at maximum pulling capacity. I don't remember ever seeing a fuse that big. HTH.

Answered by jchambers1191 from San Diego, CA on 11/08/2020

A: It comes factory with a 3 amp mini blade fuse. Early winches use a 5mmx20mm glass fuse 3 amp. Both are time delay.

Q: I just bought a 2022 Jeep Gladiator, will this winch work for this truck or should I buy something rated at a higher weight rating? I have never used a winch in the past and would rather ask before buying. Answer this question

Answered by NONE from HAMPTON AR on 03/21/2022

A: Yes, it should work fine.  Also look at the Chinese assembled Warn winches.  They are a little more, but work great.   Note, if you haven’t used a winch before, watch a couple videos.  You can double your pull strength using a snatch block.  Good luck and be safe.

A: It comes with the roller as expected.

Q: Do I need an other parts to attach it to my truck  Answer this question

A: You will need a mounting plate. Unless you have an aftermarket bumper with a place to secure the winch with the supplied nuts and bolts.

Answered by Forwheelin from Southern California on 03/11/2021

A: You will need some kind of adapter that the winch bolts to that will attach to your truck.

Q: Can the control box be relocated for an aftermarket bumper? If so how much length of cable is present to move the box? tks ! Answer this question

A: Yes, control box can be moved, there is a little cable extra to mount on right side.
