After reading the reviews I was a bit worried about having to drop the gas tank to install the bumper. But once I actually started putting it on it was a cinch and using two extensions on a ratchet there was no need to drop the gas tank it all. Bumper is super sturdy and same with the tire carrier. I've had no issues with it rattling or coming undone like I've read on different reviews. And that includes having my spare tire and bicycle rack and bicycle on it.

Money well spent
I bought the SRC rear bumper w/ tire mount to match my front bumper, and it really looks great on my Jeep and took all that weight of the 36" tire off my tailgate. Love the swing out tire makes it easier to load stuff in the back. It was very easy to install took about 30 minutes.

One bolt hole will not line up so doing without it. Biggest issue is the non stop rattle tried several things to stop and none have made it through a day. Otherwise I like the looks but really need to fix the rattle please.

Wont Go Wrong
I live in where deer and elk are on the road. The set offer great protection and sweet style. The price of adding a hitch and getting the tire off the door covers the price of setup. The noise is starting after breaking in and can be shimed out but i didn't buy a jeep because it is quiet! It has added stregth to my 06 LJ Rub.

Great Bumper for a low price
This is a good looking bumper for under $500.00. I installed it on my 2006 Rubicon and it took about 30-45 minuts to install. The only problem I had was I had to lower the gas tank to be able to tighten the inner 2 nuts and bolts.

Does this bumper/tire carrier have a way to mount a Hi lift Jack anywhere on it?

The Smittybilt SRC Rear Bumper and Tire Carrier with Receiver Hitch Part Number: S/B76621 does not have a provision to mount a jack on it. Thank you for the question.

Will I need to lower the gas tank to be able to install this bumper on my 2006 Wrangler Unlimited (LJ)?
Noah from Houston, TX on
Thanks for your question. The Smittybilt SRC Rear Bumper and Tire Carrier with Receiver Hitch does not require you to lower the gas tank. But lowering the gas tank will make it easier to install.
