The Smittybilt Tent Annex easily attaches to the Smittybilt XL Overlander Roof Top Tent to provide additional room and privacy when you need it. The annex easily attaches to the overlander tent in minutes using durable and rugged zippers. Made from the same durable polyurethane impregnated polyester, this annex will hold up under the tough conditions expected in overland exploration, and is the perfect addition to the overland tent when extra room is needed.
The annex is easy to set up and makes a nice area for a cot or twin size mattress for another person or kids. It is also a nice place to have a toilet and area to set or hang your wet or dirty clothes.

5.0Xl smittybuilt tent
Great tent and the size is perfect if you have a big family, the annex is well worth they buy and is great for enclosed dry free storage or extra sleeping.
5.0Gen 2 XL Annex
We have only used this once so far but it made a huge difference. We have enough room in the annex for our younger son to sleep and also store our food and clothing. Also gives privacy for changing. It was fairly easy to set up with two adults.
5.0Great tent and super excited to use it more!
Instructions were easy to understand and the tent installed without issues. This was my first roof tent install and it took a few hours but we figured it out. The only issue I have is there not much instruction on the awning that hangs out ladder on the front of the tent. I was able to get it assembled with a second person and an extra ladder, but I’ve tried to find some videos on if it’s possible to collapse this awning into the tent when I fold it back up and it seems like it should fold in but I can’t figure out how so I had to take it apart. The mattress is pretty comfortable but I think I’m going to buy an extra mattress pad for it. The USB LED strip and the 12v adapter and extensions cord work great!! I have this on top of my NOBO 10.6 and it’s a bit hard to put some of the rain fly poles into the drilled holes in the tent frame.

5.0Awesome addition to a great product!
This adds so much more space to the overlander tent. It's an awesome place to be able to keep gear in and or just be able to stand all the way up without having to get out of the tent. I'm very happy with both the overlander xl tent and this annex. I would recommend it for sure.
5.0Awesome addition to the tent
We do not use this every time we camp but it sure is nice to have when it suddenly rains and your friends in ground tents need a dry place to stay.

A must have for the XL. I do wish they had a shorter option. You need to have the tent at least 80 inches off the ground to utilize it. Not a problem on top of a larger vehicle, but I built a small trailer for my RTT/basecamp. It would be nicer if it could sit a bit lower.
Does the Annex have a floor covering? Hoping to keep the dogs inside annex at night and not in the actual ground.
Answer this question
The annex does have a thick rubber type floor covering that can be unzipped and removed if you don't want the flooring or if it needs to be cleaned! I kept my dogs in the annex and it worked out perfect and was very convenient to clean if they were muddy.

It does. The floor zips out if you ever don’t want to use it, or for easy cleaning.
from Atlanta, GA
Yes it does! It is made of a really heavy material and zips in and out for those times you don't need it.
from Colorado, USA
Yep it’s a nice rip stop foot print that zips on. You can pull it off for cleaning too which is a nice feature
Which zipper are you asking about?
The main zipper is sewn into the top of the annex, there should be a zipper in the hinge part of your RTT that will zip into the annex.

Mine came with one
However, the main zipper on the tent needs to be pulled out and flipped around to attach the annex
I am making a overland trailer with Gen 2 tent mounted... How high is the recommended height off ground? Is there a range it would work?

I would say around 5” if on a trailer to help with aerodynamics and gas mileage. Now if you are using the Amex it would have to be a few inch’s above the tallest person head that will be using it. Hope this helps you.
