A: I don’t think this would work with these. I have 3 bolted together in a pick truck bed. They work good for that. To have only partial contact on the running board my not be a good idea. You would need at 75% contact.

A: It's got 4 holes on the bottom, and 4 more on each side. If you have room to place all 4 holes, I don't see why not. It'll hold a lot of weight when full, so you're definitely gonna want to make sure all 4 holes can get screws.

Keep in mine the dimensions though, the holder is 7.5" and i do not know how wide your running boards are (if it would sit perfectly or hang off a tad). A: It can be mounted to any flat surface.  Or any mostly flat surface with some shims. Use strong hardware, as the fuel can will be heavy when full!

A: Mine is mounted on the back bumper of my travel trailer.  We welded a little metal extention on the bumper for it to sit on. I would not recommend inside the van.  It would make your van a bomb if you ever had a wreck.

A: Hi BD The S/B2798 is a universal gas can mounting basket but it is not designed to bolt onto the stock JK spare tire mount. We do offer a S/B2739 called the I-Rack Smart Rack. It mounts to the spare tire and comes with the gas can mount. However I do not recommend putting additional weight on the tailgate. The JK tailgate is made of very thin sheet metal and can fatigue crack. I recommend an ATLAS Rear Bumper and Spare Tire Carrier from Smittybilt. It is part number S/B76896. This an all steel rear bumper with a swing a way tire carrier on it. The tire carrier pivots off of the bumper with sealed bearings on a spindle. This bumper and tire carrier is very strong and good looking. It will carry 2 gas cans, a Hi-Lift Jack and has an antennae mount.
