The SRC Gen2 bumpers have been completely redesigned for greater fender-to-fender protection. Manufactured from 3/16" cold rolled steel, the bumpers feature corners that extend to match the factory fender lines. The raised corners allow for better entry and exit angles in extreme conditions. The bottom and sides have been reenforced with replaceable PP+TPO slip strips, which provides an extra 5/16" of damage protection. The redesigned solid D-ring mounts are welded in the inside and out and feature an integrated recovery point for easy access. Each rear bumper features two reverse lights and a class III, 2" receiver hitch that is incorporated into the bumper and bolts directly up to your factory mounting points.
Installed this SRC Gen 2 front bumper on a 2021 Gladiator Rubicon EcoDiesel. I chose the product after having the gen 1 on a 4 door wrangler and enjoying the extra coverage of the flares against trail objects plus a place to mount a winch.
Sadly this product still suffers from quality issues similar to the last one. In this case, the passenger side bolt plate which passes through the bumper frame to the vehicle frame horn had a bolt miswelded to the base plate. The 3 bolts are spot welded in 2 places each to a base plate, which then passes through the other parts mentioned to be the primary attachment of the bumper. Given this approach, the bolt heads being flat and square to the plate is critical to ensure they can pass through the frame horn holes. One of the bolts was not held square and got tacked at an angle. This required me to grind the welds off and hold with a wrench in a really awkward position to attach the bumper. Also, there is not much care to protect holes, threads, and surfaces from weld splatter or powdercoat. This creates difficulties depending on where those flaws occur. If these quality issues were resolved, Smittybilt would rival many other top tier products on the market.
Another issue to note which is really on me as I failed to notice or ask, but this bumper does not extend far enough under the vehicle to protect the sway bar mechanism underside. It comes down far enough for frontal protection, but given it requires removal of the factory rubicon metal skid plate, it leaves the sway bar mechanism unprotected. I called tech support and they said this bumper was designed for JK but is able to fit JL and JT. Just seems like a good disclosure up front so folks are aware. Also appears that they could offer a supplemental plate to extend coverage, or modify the design to allow the factory plate to remain in place.
Overall I like it and happy to have it, but know it potentially requires some workarounds for quality issues and provides additional coverage at the expense of other.

4.0Minor Quality issues
Several of the threaded studs that are for the fog light mounting had weld spatter on the threads. This was easily preventable during manufacturing as well as easily detectable if there was any Quality inspection of the product. Apparently there isn't. I had to use die to chase the threads and clean up the spatter without damaging the stud threads. Using a nut for this would likely result in thread damage. Several studs were affected. The second challenge concerned the OEM (LED) fog light installation. I shopped for a bumper that would accept the OEM LED lights and the Engineer's did a decent job of designing an interface to accept multiple options. The problem is there is no adjustment capability. It would have been nice to see a warning for this in the instructions. I didn't even consider this and didn't notice that my lights were pointed too low until weeks later. Ooops, my bad. The only adjustment option is a washer stack under the top mounting screws to raise the beam and now I will have to remove the winch to access the fog lights. There is very little clearance between the winch and the fog lights so future replacement of the fog lights requires winch removal and possibly bumper removal. I installed the winch after installing the bumper. This was not an issue. No issues with bolt alignment and no enlarging holes required. My installation was onto a 2020 JLU Rubicon. I was disappointed however, to see "Made in China" on the product label on the box. My personal preference is to support US manufacturing and this is why I did not purchase the matching rear bumper for my Jeep.

5.0Great first impression
First thing, Smittybilt did an amazing job packaging the bumper for shipping. The bumper came in a very large box with a lot of packing inside to protect your new bumper. The install went well. After making just a few of the holes bigger for the bolts to go through, it bolted up easy. I also installed the Smittybilt X20 10k winch with the bumper. The pair look very good together.
