Seems to be a decent brace. The largest thing that I think could be done better is the thickness of the tube/frame side plate. Time will tell...
Used this bracket to replace the weak (and old) OEM stamped two piece part on my 76 CJ7 which had developed the rather common stress fractures. This replacement part must weigh at least four times what the stock unit does and is built like armor from a battle tank! Installed using all the original bolt holes even though the directions suggested some might not be an exact fit. Only the extra plate (not required for OEM replacement) that was intended to tie the outside of the frame together with the mount did not fit as intended but I flipped it over and used it like a giant washer anyway which should serve the same purpose. This single, minor problem is the only reason I gave it less than a full five stars. Nearly half the price of similar products and every bit as capable. I'm sure if my jeep was crushed this single piece would get my bet to come out unscathed. It's over built THAT much!
Q: Will this fit a 1978 cj with a manual steering box Answer this question
A: Hi Jeep Man The manufacture does not state weather the kit will fit the manual steering box. I have included a link to the instructions for you to review http://www.4wheelparts.com/aux_incl/pdf.ashx?pdf=OAI_18003.10_INS_1.pdf&line=RUG thank you
