Rugged Ridge Dual Battery Trays

Installed on a ‘85 CJ7 with a Jeep 360. It’s used for some reasonably serious trails during elk hunting trips to Montana. I need to power a winch, dual cooling fans, oil cooler fan, oversized heater fan & plenty of trail lighting... First; solid, quality hardware. All components are more substantial than I expected to see. Second; installation did require a little “manipulation” but everything fits. The instructions were a bit lacking, but once you remove the factory battery tray, it becomes clear how it all fits. I run two Group 24 batteries, which are the same footprint as the stock Group 34, just an inch or so taller; no problem with height clearance. Just pre-assemble the appropriate parts with all of the fasteners loose. Then work things into place and snug it all down. You might need a couple of drift pins to align & hold things in place temporarily and a small pry bar.... This unit clears the CJ heater hose/core outlets nicely. I did have to shorten the j-hook threaded tie-down bars for hood clearance, but that was the only modification required. Once in place, it’s absolutely solid. Start to finish, about three hours, but I’m old & don’t work as fast as I used to!! I have zero concerns about battery security in off-road use!!!

Good price. Tray fits group 48/H6 as described. I put my oem group 48 battery and a deep cycle group 34 battery in the tray and they fit fine. There is room to put 2 group 48 batteries. Sturdy steel construction. The nylon strap is the only reason I gave 4 stars. It will have to be replaced if you are doing any hardcore wheeling. I will make my own tie down brackets.
