Rugged Ridge JK Armor Fenders represent some of the most extreme off-road styling that has ever been offered for the Wrangler JK. Rest assured that our Engineers left any elements of subtlety on the cutting room floor when they developed the Armor Fenders. Aggressive lines and high wheel arches give the JK a whole new attitude that begs to be taken off-road. Sturdy all-steel construction with welded seams and a heavy textured black powder coat makes these fenders capable of absorbing abuse while delivering head-turning good looks. Front fenders are narrower than stock for greater clearance and feature stylized vents at the rear to aid in venting engine compartment heat. Rugged Ridge Armor Fenders are designed to work with factory components as well as the Rugged Ridge Spartan Grill, Hood Latches, Elite Fuel Doors, modular snorkel and even Rubicon Rock Rails. Installation uses the factory inner wheel liners or our Rugged Ridge All-Terrain Wheel Liners (11620.50), with minor trimming required.
Ok, let me start by saying that I do love the look and the stoutness of these fenders. but I do have a big issue with the install instructions and the hardware and some quality control issues. The instructions are virtually useless and out and out wrong in some cases and some steps are out of order. On the rear fender install it calls for 6 threaded inserts on each side. Nuts and bolts would work on half of those, which I ended up doing on one side. Instructions say to drill 1/2" holes for supplied threaded inserts. Problem there is the OD for supplied inserts is 7/16". That wont work. Plus supplied insert tool is junk. Only good for two or three inserts before it fails. Ended up up ordering some better quality inserts and a proper insert tool from a vendor, which caused five days of downtime. Switched to front fender install in meantime. Pretty straight forward, Basically nuts and bolts there. On passenger side rear fender the top edge was pretty much straight, but Jeep body tapers inward going to taillight. Had a heck of of time pulling that in with clamps in order to get fasteners to line up. Then upon reinstalling license plate, you are on your own. Yes they give you a bracket, but as far as reinstalling license plate light you have to fabricate that. Thanks Rugged Ridge. I've left out some stuff, but that's my review guys.
