I am new to Jeeps and want to do a bit of off-roading/overlanding with my wife and son, so I purchased a CJ7 and immediately decided to do some mods to it. It came with 31", so I decided to go with this Rough Country 4" lift-kit that came at a great price. I really like that the kit comes with pretty much everything you need, minus the extended brake hoses, which I went with stainless braided hoses.
I installed this on my '82 CJ7 with a Dana 44 rear, which I was skeptical on whether the kit would fit or not. I was worried that there would be some differences between the AMC 20 and the Dana 44, but this kit bolted right up to the Dana 44 rear.
FYI, the sway bar links are really skimpy, so be careful with that. I installed the leafsprings using OE shackles, but will soon be upgrading to TerraFlex shackles.
The kit is really easy to install, and would probably take a few hours to install. For the price, you really can't go wrong with this complete lift-kit. I would definitely recommend the Rough Country lift-kit to anyone.

1.0Bad rear coil spring
Unsure at this point how to rate this product. It is in the shop getting lift installed. However, one of the rear coil springs will not fit on to axle. Spring is straight at one end and just got springs powder coated red. Now I have get a new coil spring sent before it can be finished. Burst my happy bubble.

The over all design is great. Just some of the parts were delayed. And I had to order missing M16 lock nuts from McMaster Carr.

2.0Your truck won't be leveled
I had this lift kit installed by a shop. I immediatly noticed that the front was higher then the rear, O measured 3/4 lower.
I called Rough Country, they said that the rear should be higher than the front, they didn't say why but recommended a 2" rear spacer, the kit comes with a 1" rear spacer. They won't provide or sell a 2" rear spacer.
I had to separate purchase a 2" spacer for about $70 and take my truck again to the shop to have it installed for about $220, so I ended up spending another $300 to have it leveled as it should be with the original kit.
With the 2" rear spacer the truck looks leveled to the naked eye but the rear still sit lower by about 1/4", so a 2.25" or 2.5" rear spacer is a better option.
As far as handling I have no complains, the ride is a little harder than stock but I guess this has to do with that I have bigger, heavier, harder tires. 35" X 12.5" X 18" BFG KO2s. This was expected.
If you're still planning to purchase this lift kit, I recommened you get a 2"-2.5" rear spacer and get rid of the 1" that comes with the kit. This will save you to have it installed after and the frustation of not seeing your truck the way you want.
Other than that I will still recommend this kit for the money.
